ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal there might have been a change of plans, in more ways than one. While it seemed they were not going to return until after the hearings, last night the show surprised us. A post on their social media yesterday promised the return of new episodes. For those markets affected (read: almost all), they’d be airing the episode online. After 8 PM EST, fans finally got to see the explosive episode that’s sure to change a lot in Port Charles. However, there was a lot more to deal with. Here’s what you need to know.

Poor Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) hasn’t had the welcome back he hoped for. His son, Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel), sent him packing and told him to never come back. We can’t blame Spencer. He’s been through a lot because of Nikolas’ absence. But the aftereffects in last night’s episode were a bit surprising.

So, we know that Ava Jerome (Maura West) has every reason to hate Nikolas. You can’t torture someone with their dead daughter and expect all to be forgiven. However, we wonder if this encounter with Spencer might have helped. Until now, we know Ava planned to talk Nikolas for everything he’s got. She still might. However, we do think she might soften her stance a bit. Spencer’s rejection and the whole situation seems to have struck a chord with her. She appeared sympathetic and encouraging as they headed back from the ill-fated reunion. It’s likely she’s feeling a bit of empathy, as she pointed out she’s all-too familiar with a child hating their parent. She’d given anything to make things right with Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin), so is it possible she’ll channel that into repairing the rift between Nikolas and Spencer? We think so. However, a lady like Ava never puts everything in one basket.

As we said, we do think she might have softened on her revenge scheme. At least, enough so she might be willing to keep things as they are now. We think Nikolas is wise enough not to trust this situation, as he suggested an infidelity clause in order to sign that post-nup. We think he’s trying to avoid embarrassment, and give himself an out. We think Ava is thinking along similar lines. She agreed to a faithful, sexless union, but only if the price is high—for him. She’ll get 90% of everything if he doesn’t follow the clause. A backup for later, or sticking to her original revenge? You be the judge. If she does have revenge still firmly in mind, expect Nikolas to suddenly have a lot of temptation coming at him.
