ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicate that Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) seriously underestimated the reaction to his scheme. Ever since he revealed himself at the failed wedding between Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), it’s been one blow after another. Literally. He’s been slapped so many times, he’s probably numb by now. But we don’t think he was quite prepared for what happened this week. Here’s what you need to know.

In a recent episode, Nikolas got what was perhaps the harshest verbal beatdown yet. He brought it on himself, in a way. He should’ve probably known better than to show up at the Corinthos home. Yet, he did. And he totally underestimated the scope of what he’d done to Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel), as well as the bond he shares with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard). Sonny made it very clear that Spencer is important to him, and Sonny’s been a confidant of his during this whole situation. He’s heard the pain Spencer’s going through, seen the toll it’s taken on him and Laura Webber (Genie Francis). You never mess with people close to a crime boss. Sonny is extremely protective of Spencer in particular, and really laid into Nikolas for all the pain Spencer’s been through. But there was another reason for Sonny to get angry.

See, General Hospital spoilers reveal that Nikolas made another mistake. He asked Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) to keep his living status secret. Sonny doesn’t appreciate Nikolas making Carly lie to him, and we’re sure he’s not happy about the tension that resulted between them. So, Sonny decided to make one thing crystal clear to Nikloas—stay away. He doesn’t want him anywhere near Carly, or anyone else he cares about. And we know Sonny doesn’t just say things for the heck of it. He has a reason, and he’s serious. Nikolas would be smart to pay attention.

Will he? General Hospital spoilers hint it’s likely. At least, for Carly. We do think he’ll keep trying to find a way to connect with Spencer again. The flashbacks and the scene in general made us think he misses Spencer and is desperate to fix this. However, he’s got to be very careful here. If he moves too quickly, this could upset Spencer more and lead to another phone session with Sonny. That would not end well for Nikolas. He needs to let Spencer make the first move, if or when, he feels comfortable. Even if Spencer doesn’t mention it to Sonny again, being too pushy isn’t respecting Spencer’s pain, or his boundaries. The violation of trust was so huge, and Spencer is going to need a lot of time to deal with it. If Nikolas loves Spencer as much as he says, he has to be willing to be cut off for a while.
