ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal we have a new Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez). However, we’re always going to have a soft spot for the original, and it seems we’re not alone. Let’s see what Nicolas J Bechtel had to say about the end of his run, and how fans reacted.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The beginning—for us

Our first scene as regular viewers was a few years ago. We watched as Spencer and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) had a talk. The dialogue and chemistry between the two actors struck us right away, and this kid was one of the most quirky characters on the show.

Something we really appreciate, hence being such huge fans of Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). We watched this kid stress over the possible reveal of his election tampering, as well as the pain of realizing Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) had faked being dead all those years.

There was a lot to handle, and a lot more. We were glad to get to see some Spencer in the older episodes during the shutdown. But, as is common in Daytime, a change came. Bechtel took to Twitter to say goodbye to viewers following Chavez’s debut.

    ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Goodbye

The actor took to Twitter to say, “Spencer suffered third degree burns at his own birthday party, spent time with the spirit of his Mother, ran away, was kidnapped, tampered with an election and broke his legs skiing in the Swiss Alps. It’s been a great run…thank you for all your love and support.”

That support came quickly. Co-star Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) wrote back, “Legend” with a heart. Fans jumped in not only to agree with her reply, but to show their own support.

One wrote, “It has been a great run; you made us laugh, you made us cry. The life and times of young Spencer Cassadine were very entertaining! #GH All the best to you with your future endeavors, whatever they might be. Lots to discover!”

Another added, “You are my Spencer. I can’t imagine another. I’m devastated.”

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Who’s next?

With this change, some fans on FB wondered if this was going to happen again. We have Cameron Webber’s (William Lipton) siblings, Avery Jerome-Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola), and Violet Finn (Jophielle Love).

Not to mention Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) kids, Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) and Leo Falconeri (Aaron Bradshaw). Those are the ones we can think of off-hand.

Our initial instinct is Charlotte. She’s a big part of the show and story, but she hasn’t been seen for a long time. There are definite real-world reasons for that, but it gives an opening for change. Much more so than the Webber kids.

Leo also hasn’t been seen all that much, so it is another change that might not be as jarring than if they were to try this with Avery or Violet. Of course, they could always age several of them, as they just sent their high school scene off to college. We’ll see what happens, but this isn’t the first time a kid grew way too fast in soaps, and it definitely won’t be the last.
