ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicate that this year hasn’t been a very solid one for Port Charles mom boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Not only is he trying to control the streets of his town, but he’s also dealing with a lot of emotional things in his personal life, including his father’s rapidly declining health. Here’s what you need to know.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Maurice admits that it has been a rollercoaster of emotions for his character. While there’s no doubt that the scenes with actor Max Gail (Mike Corbin) have been so strong, the most recent ones have become more poignant, especially in the one where Sonny had to feed Mike.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Maurice Benard Opens Up About Sonny And Mike’s Emotional Scenes
Recalling that one particular scene, Sonny told the publication, “Yeah, I got chills when you even said that because I haven’t watched it. I think it’s too much for me right now. But I remember doing it and thinking — and I told people this — that it was the best work I’ve ever done. It was the best work because it was so easy. Even though it was hard, and those emotions were difficult, it was so easy, going into it was easy, because with beautiful writing, boom, it’s easy. He’s brilliant, so we just kind of did it.”
Maurice also agrees that Mike brings out the best in Sonny, adding,” Yeah, it’s always nice to have the two. A lot of times you can’t, but it’s nice because he’s got this new [rival], Cyrus Renault, and I think it’s been a while since I’ve gotten to show both sides.”
