ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers finds that star Maura West (Ava Jerome) is opening up about – get this – her 12th nomination for a Daytime Emmy Award! This year she’s up for Outstanding Lead Actress. Here’s what she has to say.
Believe it or not, Maura didn’t even know that she was nominated at first until her mother told her about it! Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, the talented and stunning actress recalls, “Somehow my mother knew the announcement was taking place that morning… and that lady is fast! I saw her number on my Caller ID and knew she knew something I didn’t yet know. It’s super nice to hear it from her as I wouldn’t be an actress without her support and belief in me.”

Believe it or not, this is Maura’s 12th nomination, which is an incredible feat in itself. When asked what does that kind of recognition by her peers means to her, Maura explained, “I’m incredibly grateful. I’ve had the opportunity to play two of the best female characters on television, daytime or primetime. I still miss Carly Tenney very much. The As The World Turns experience is something I carry in my pocket with me every day of my life.”
With that said, Maura adds that big social settings makes her “heart race” and that’s why she’s happy that this year’s ceremony will be a virtual one. However, she says that she is going to miss seeing her big daytime television family. “We are a very close knit bunch, in general, and it’s always a highlight of any year to share some laughs and some love with people I have known for so long. Plus: I do love seeing my handsome husband in a tuxedo… that makes my heart race, too!”
