British Royal Family News suggests that while it might have seemed as though Prince William was looking at for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at one point while they were splitting their offices, truth be told, the future King of England was actually looking out for himself.
According to the new book, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Royal Modern Family, Prince William apparently advocated for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to have a proper work space and suitable communications budget when they decided to split offices. However, Prince William knew at the time that smaller roles for Harry and Meghan would have meant more work for him and his wife, Kate Middleton. Here’s what you need to know.

As many fans know, royal observers and critics alike were shocked when the Cambridges and the Sussexes decided to split the Royal Foundation and all of the projects that they were involved with. In regards to the Royal Foundation, one source close to the situation put it this way, “There was an option for the four to keep going as they were, but the Cambridges were keen to get going on a clean break.”
And while no one really knows what did go on behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace, many royal critics certainly have taken to their social media accounts to comment on the situation. Some have said, “Honestly, I think Will’s biggest freak out about this isn’t that they’re gone, it’s that they didn’t go where he wanted them to. He wanted to be in control of where they went, the narrative, the money, and still be able to call and have them brought into England for work trips when he got tired.”
Another royal fan said, “He wanted them to behave like Edward, Sophie, and Eugenie; eager to run over whenever he beckoned. Everyone in William’s life, including Kate, serves him. It’s the same dynamic Charles and the Queen have with people.”
