British Royal Family News suggests that Meghan Markle did want to build a new sisterly relationship with Kate Middleton but unfortunately Prince William’s wife wasn’t interested in giving her the time of day.
The new book, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, suggests that Meghan certainly did make an effort to reach out to her sister-in-law on several occasions and wanted to build a bond with her, but the Duchess of Cambridge did not reciprocate in the same way. The new book claims that everyone behind the scenes “would agree with the assessment” that Meghan and Kate are definitely not the best of friends, and they never were. To make matters worse, they are not even on speaking terms now.
During the last royal engagement that they attended together, the Duchess of Cambridge didn’t even look in Meghan’s direction, nor did she even acknowledge her presence even though she was just a few feet away from her at the Commonwealth Day Services.
British Royal Family News: Kate Middleton Refused To Build A Bond With Meghan Markle
Author Omid Scobie says that while neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle were interviewed for the book, several sources close to the royal family weighed in on all of the royal drama behind the scenes.
Even though Meghan and Kate did hang out a few times during the former Hollywood actress’ engagement to Prince Harry, they were still no closer after Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May of 2018.
“Flowers for her birthday were nice, but Meghan would far rather have had Kate check in on her during the most difficult times with the press,” the book reveals.
The Duchess of Sussex had hoped that Kate would have been a trusted friend and ally and someone who could have shown her the ropes of royal life. Meghan “fully expected Kate to reach out and give her the lie of the land on everything an outsider to the Firm needed to know,” the book claims.
A source close to Kate Middleton says that the Duchess of Cambridge felt as though the two women simply didn’t have anything in common. They weren’t the best of friends, but they also weren’t at war with each other, either. The book also reveals, “Meghan was disappointed that she and Kate hadn’t bonded over the unique position they shared, but she wasn’t losing sleep over it.”
