British royal family news has revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton have made a huge contribution to aid those suffering from mental health issues. The announcement was made during a visit yesterday, as the couple spoke to health care workers that have been on the front line of the battle against coronavirus.
While the couple were speaking to the workers, Kate and William revealed that they will be pledging £1.8 million to help those that are suffering from mental health issues. They also revealed that they would be working to help those that have been working on the front line through the pandemic.
British Royal Family News: Heartwarming Contribution
It is another huge step for William and Kate, who have constantly reiterated that they want to work harder to ensure that those battling with mental health issues are able to get the support that they need. In total, there will be ten different charities that will receive funds from the pledge.
Included in that list of charities is the Hospice UK. This charity is one that aims at helping workers on the frontline overcome grief. The charity works with individuals that work in the NHS by offering counselling sessions.
Kate admitted during the meeting with the workers that the pandemic will have a huge impact on the mental health of those working in the NHS, and that the royals were hoping that this pledge will assist those that need help.
British Royal Family News: Pledges Made To Other Charities
It won’t just be NHS staff that will benefit from the huge pledge that was made, as it was also revealed that some of the money will be going towards helping schools tackle the issue of mental health.
The Royal Foundation is the charity that William and Kate are the head of, as they are the soul royals remaining after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the charity earlier this year to establish their own.
The funds were given the name ‘Covid-19 Response Fund’. There are ten charities in total that will receive funds as part of the response. Included among them are The Mix, YoungMinds and Campaign Against Living Miserably. The Anna Freud Centre, Place2Be and Best Beginnings will also receive funds.
