The best person to ask about that would be Myka Stauffer, youtuber and MommyVlogger who recently rehomed her severely autistic toddler from China who had reactive attachment disorder. Stauffer claims that the family came to this decision because the adoption agency that she got him from did not originally discuss all of his initial medical history with her. But in an earlier video, she said that when a doctor, a certified medical professional, had told her that her family might not be the right fit for this child and that there were things beyond just autism that needed to be addressed, in a video Myka stated that those words went “in one ear and out the other”.
The child is four years old, even a child that you adopt from the states is not guaranteed to be a fit for any adoptive home. You can’t customize an adoptive child, and you certainly shouldn’t put the same expectations on them that you would, say, an inbred labradoodle (no disrespect to labradoodles out there), that you would pick up at the pound. She also proceeded to say in that same video that her child was not returnable, so that begs the question of why she changed her tune suddenly, why now?
Youtuber Myka Stauffer: Are children returnable?
It could be because the Stauffers just bought a brand new magnificent home and on top of that they just had another biological baby. A home which, they probably would not have had, had they not gotten so much ad revenue from youtube, and how did they they get that much ad-revenue? By vlogging their adoption story, of course! Even though they knew that their son was going to need a lot of extra attention growing up, so I do not think for one second that money or time constraints were an issue when it came to family planning. During this four month period, Myka continued posting mommy morning routines on her own channel but their family channel and all things that referenced their family as a whole were stopped, they just didn’t update them anymore. During that time, they were shopping their son around to different families with an adoption agency… wow, not returnable, eh?
The saddest thing about this is that in spite of his alleged reactive attachment disorder, the little boy was indeed bonded with this family. He had a very special bond with their youngest daughter, and he loved, loved going to the store with Myka. Even if he didn’t bond with her in the traditional way he did bond with her, and now he’s going to wonder why someone that he has come to know as ‘Mom’ has been taken away from him and why he’s with this new person. His new Mom, supposedly has medical training. At first glance you think that that may have been why Mykja gave up her son to another person, but that’s not an excuse because guess what? Myka was a registered nurse!
But in her last few months as a registered nurse, according to some people that she worked with, she would constantly say how youtube was her preferred career and that she was a personal chef on the side and all this, and she even ended up in a physical altercation with a pregnant co-worker that ended in her leaving the facility which she was hired at a few months afterward, or so she says she left. The theory is that she was actually fired but I guess we can’t actually get confirmation of that, but, that’s not really the important part. The important part of all of this is that Myka exploited a mentally disabled child for youtube fame and views for two whole years and now when the child is no longer bringing them said views and fame, the family wants privacy. That’s… quite a statement, if you ask me. Also, it seems she has lawyered up and while they advise her not to say anything else, we’re pretty sure she will. Stay tuned!
