Coronation Street Spoilers tease that Gary Windass will be back on the warpath in the coming months after it has been revealed that James Burrows will be leaving the street before the summer. Burrows has played Dr Ali Neeson in Coronation Street for the past two years.
Ali and Gary have been embroiled in a rivalry over the past 12 months after they have both been looking to gain the attention of Maria Connor. However, it was reported on Monday afternoon that Burrows has already filmed his final scenes, and that could mean a bloody end for one of the most beloved characters on the soap.
Coronation Streets Spoilers: Ali And Maria’s Affair
The news came after last week’s scenes which saw Ali and Maria rekindling their love for each other. The two passionately kissed in the barbers after Maria had growing doubts that Gary was back up to bad business as a loan shark. She saw him giving money to a shady customer, before finding Ali later in the episode.
The two slept together, which has sparked rumours that Maria could get pregnant once again. That would be a shocking turn of events as Maria only suffered a miscarriage less than a month ago. Gary and Ali seemed to have buried the hatchet in the aftermath of that shock for Maria, as Ali looking after her in the hospital, which was appreciated by Gary. However, it would seem that their war isn’t over yet.
Coronation Street Spoilers: Bosses Admit Ali Isn’t Killed Off
As soon as the announcement was made, the soap’s bosses admitted that Burrows wouldn’t be killed off, as he could make a return to the soap at a later stage. However, that hasn’t stopped fans speculating how he could leave Weatherfield.
Later this week, Maria and Gary announce their engagement. Ali will shake Gary’s hand and congratulate him, but it has been teased that Ali’s and Maria’s secret will come out in the end. Ali could end up going into hiding which may be another potential reason for him leaving. Fans will have to continue watching Coronation Street to see how it plays out.
