Ilsa Philips turned 14 on March 29. For those who aren’t familiar with this charming young royal, she’s the granddaughter of Princess Anne.
Ilsa Is the Hope for the Next Generation of Young Royals
Princess Anne is the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the sister of King Charles. Ilsa is the youngest daughter of Princess Anne’s son, Peter Philips, and his former wife, Autumn Kelly.
Ilsa celebrated her 14th birthday yesterday and is said to be the hope for the next generation of young royals. She was born on March 29, 2012, at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, four years after her parents were married.
Much like several girls in the royal family, Ilsa’s middle name, Elizabeth, is in honor of her great- grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Despite their divorce, Peter Philips and Autumn Kelly successfully co-parent Ilsa and their other daughter, Ilsa’s sister, Savannah.
Ilsa currently holds a place in the line of succession to the throne. The young royal has been raised largely away from the public eye. She has enjoyed her outdoor lifestyle at Gatcombe Park.
She loves attending horse races and spending time with her cousins. Ilsa and Savannah’s father, Peter, is preparing to marry Harriet Sperling. The two sisters are expected to take part in the upcoming ceremony.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has said that
“The girls are a breath of fresh air.” Ilsa and Savannah are the only younger royals who haven’t been tainted by the ongoing scandals involving Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson.
Almost everyone else has been dragged into Andrew and Sarah’s mess, including their children, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
Fitzwilliams stated,
“Her generation should be free of the scandals that are currently causing problems for the thousand -year -old institution.”
Ilsa, Like Her Father, Peter, Was Given No Royal Titles
The royal correspondent explained,
“It should be a breath of fresh air as the royal family moves with the times and each generation has something new to give in an environment which is constantly changing but always pressurized.”
Ilsa was also given no royal titles by her father. It’s the same decision his mother, Princess Anne, made for her children, Peter and Zara Tindall.
Fitzwilliams said that Ilsa is “set to make her mark on royal life.” She adores her grandmother, Princess Anne, and they enjoy riding horses together at her private stables.
Ilsa has attended major royal and equestrian events, such as the Gatcombe Horse Trials and the Blenheim International Horse Trials. There is heavy speculation that she may become an equestrian star in her own right, like her aunt Zara.
Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, is a highly accomplished equestrian. She won a team silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Her mother, the Princess Royal, presented her with the medal.
Zara is a celebrated member of the equestrian community, and it’s not hard to imagine Ilsa following in her dear aunt’s footsteps someday.
Fitzwilliams tapped Princess Anne to mentor Ilsa as she grows into her role in the royal family. The royal commentator said,
“In future years, her grandmother, Princess Anne, who is considered the hardest working, no-nonsense member of the royal family, is likely to advise her.”
He added,
“This will serve her well in the years ahead as she carves out her own distinctive path as a non-working royal.”
