‘General Hospital’ spoilers pose the question: Will Nathan West (Ryan Paevy) get fired for covering for Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr)?

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Nathan’s Feelings for Lulu Were a Huge Factor Involved

Nathan arrived at the pier right after Rocco fired a gun at Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) before he had the chance to kill Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thieabud).

The good cop has clearly fallen hard for Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Breuning), which is obviously a big part of why he decided to protect Rocco and keep his shooting Cullum a secret.

Nathan also allowed an innocent man, Jason, to take the fall for Rocco, and now he’s off, locked up God knows where for shooting a high-ranking WSB agent.

It’s a situation very reminiscent of when the FBI plucked Jason to work undercover. Jason does the right thing to protect the people he cares about.

Ultimately, he gets handcuffed for his altruistic, selfless choices. However, this situation is even more complicated, given that Rocco is just a kid. His life would be ruined if the WSB uncovered the truth.

    Rocco

Rocco saved Jason and Britt’s lives, and Jason feels that protecting Rocco is the right thing to do in return. Of course, it’s a sacrifice, but that’s what Jason does.

So, there was no way that Nathan would have risked Rocco being punished for pulling the trigger, especially since Rocco is already in enough trouble and is on probation.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Nathan and Lulu Are Keeping a Life-Changing Secret from Dante about His Son

Ryan Paevy recently dished to Soap Opera Digest on Nathan’s decision to protect Rocco and keep this secret, along with Lulu and Jason.

Even amidst the chaos and confusion, Nathan understands that Rocco would never hurt anyone on purpose. Paevy told SOD,

“He sees that this kid is in shock, and he feels like, ‘I know what to do.”

He explained Nathan’s thought process was like,

“We gotta go, kid. We can deal with this later, but right now, you cannot be here.”

Paevy admitted that Nathan’s “affinity for Lulu” was a big reason he chose to cover up Rocco’s involvement. The actor said,

“Nathan’s care for Lulu is legitimate and genuine, and it’s a powerful motivator to make sure Rocco is okay. He wants to take care of her kid.”

What’s going to be interesting to see is how Nathan and Lulu keeping this from Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) will affect those relationships.

General Hospital spoilers Dante has doubts GH

It’s likely going to hurt Dante a lot since Dante and Lulu share a son, Rocco, and he’ll feel like he should have been a part of these important decisions.

Also, there is the factor of Lulu and Nathan’s romantic connection, and right now, Dante is alone and feels like the odd man out.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Nathan Asked Jason, “What’s the Play?”

Dante used to share everything with Lulu, and now she’s keeping this life-changing secret about his own son with Nathan. It’s going to be a huge mess when the time comes for Dante to find out the truth.

Plus, Paevy was also intrigued by the unspoken understanding between Nathan and Jason. Nathan showed up and saw Rocco and Jason was ready to take the fall.

Nathan asked Jason pointedly, “What’s the play?” There was the unspoken decision that this kid needed to be protected at all costs.

    Jason at the PCPD

So, the secret is also between Nathan and Jason, who went to prison to protect Rocco. That’s also something that will make Dante uncomfortable.

Not to mention Nathan, who is typically a by-the-book cop, also broke the law by protecting Rocco and letting an innocent man end up behind bars. It’s possible Dante will eventually be forced to fire Nathan over this.

General Hospital spoilers Nathan is worried GH

Dante is the acting police commissioner right now, and he wasn’t part of that integral moment in his son’s life, but Nathan was.

Britt, who was also present, was knocked out cold by Cullum. So, she has no idea for now what went down. All she knows is that when she came to, Jason instructed her to tell the cops she saw him shoot Cullum.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: “You Take Care of Each Other’s Children”

Plus, for Dante, there is the aspect of Jason being separated from his own son, Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn). After all, Jason was carted off in shackles and is rotting in a jail cell somewhere because he’s protecting Dante’s son. It’s a beautiful soapy mess.

Paevy also said of Nathan’s understanding with Jason,

“We understand there’s sort of a rule or code of conduct here, you know? Like, kids are off the menu.”

    'General Hospital' Spoilers Nathan returns

    He explained,

“You take care of each other’s children. We can fight, but I’m not gonna shoot your son. All it takes between gentlemen who live by these rules is, ‘Look, we’ve got to get the kid out of here.”

    Paevy added,

“The rest of this is a problem, but get the kid out, and then we’ll set about dealing with it. In the moment, the priority is to get the kid out.”

We have to wonder whether Rocco will break down and tell Danny that he was the one who shot Cullum. Jason’s temporary exit and Rocco’s actions will have ripple effects that will be felt in Port Charles for a long time to come. Until then, only Rocco, Lulu, Nathan, and Jason know what really happened on that pier.
