‘General Hospital’ spoilers pose the question: Is Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) being unfair to Lulu Spencer (Alex Havins Breuning) and Nathan West (Ryan Paevy)?
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Maxie Disapproves of Nathan Moving on with Lulu
Let’s be clear: When Maxie woke up from her coma and discovered that Nathan was alive, she said goodbye to her husband and chose Damian Spinelli (Bradford Andrerson).
She told Nathan she would always love him, but that her heart was with Spinelli now. Maxie has a beautiful, blended family with Spinelli, and she fell in love with him when Nathan was presumed dead.
Maxie wants Nathan to move on and find love again. Yet, what she didn’t expect was that he would find it with her BFF, Lulu. Ouch.
Lulu went to Maxie to confess that she and Nathan became involved while she was in a coma. Maxie didn’t exactly take the news well.
Maxie explained to Lulu that the idea of her and Nathan together made her uncomfortable, and she vehemently disapproved. Lulu didn’t seem at all swayed when Maxie told her point-blank that Nathan was off limits.
So, now, fans are intensely divided on whether they feel that Maxie is in the right here. On the one hand, Lulu violated girl code big time.
Some fans feel that Lulu should have kept her feelings for Nathan on the back burner and waited until Maxie woke up, allowing her to process the fact that Nathan was alive.
Instead, Lulu has decided to pursue a relationship with him. It breaks the unspoken rule that you should never date the love of your BFF’s life.
Regardless of whether Maxie chose to be with Nathan or Spinelli, Nathan still has a big piece of Maxie’s heart; they are technically still married, and she also shares a child with him.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Maxie Ultimately Chose to Be with Spinelli
On the other hand, no one can really help who they fall in love with. Lulu clearly feels a magnetic pull toward Nathan and wants to explore what their attraction means.
Even though Lulu pursuing Nathan breaks girl code, she would still have feelings for him, regardless of whether Maxie gave Lulu her blessing.
Plus, Maxie did choose Spinelli. Nathan let Maxie decide what the future would look like between them, and she wants to continue her relationship and cohabitation with Spinelli.
One fan in a Reddit thread regarding this topic made the analogy: What if Lulu woke up and Maxie had moved on with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna)?
Obviously, Lulu might feel weird about that. Additionally, it might hurt Maxie to see Nathan and Lulu sharing close moments, kissing, or generally being lovey-dovey with each other.
That said, Maxie can’t really control who Nathan decides to be with. Does she really have the right to dictate to Nathan how to live his life?
Maxie’s reaction may also have been said in the heat of the moment, and perhaps, if she has some time to think about it, she may realize that she wants Nathan and Lulu to be happy, even if that means they move forward together.
Lastly, some viewers have also considered that Nathan may be an imposter, which is an interesting theory. Regardless, the situation is unfortunate for all parties involved, but the soapy drama that’s coming out of it is the stuff of classic daytime television.
