King Charles held the royal family’s annual Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace yesterday with several senior royals in attendance.
The Former Prince Andrew and His Ex-Wife, Fergie, Were Notably Excluded
Notably absent were the disgraced former Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. However, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie opted to attend the event, despite their parents’ exile.
Princess Charlotte recreated one of her mother, Kate Middleton’s, favorite hairstyles for the occasion. Photos showed Kate and her young daughter wearing their hair half-up, half-down.
Charlotte’s hair was secured in a decorative bow, and the Princess of Wales fastened her caramel tresses with a black velvet bow. Both looked gorgeous, like mother, like daughter.
Kate also repurposed her red Alessandra Rich dress, which she first wore while filming A Berry Royal Christmas with Dame Mary Berry and her husband in 2019.
She accessorized with Van Cleef & Arpels earrings that accentuated her facial features and sophisticated hairstyle. The mother-daughter duo were adorably matched in red outfits.
Charlotte arrived for lunch with her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, and their father, Prince William.
A source close to the royal family remarked,
“Princess Charlotte has the grace and poise of her mother, the Princess of Wales.”
Charlotte has been taking her fashion cues from her stylish mother, who was recently named “Best Dressed Lady” by Vogue for 2025.
Prince William and Princess Kate missed the royal family Christmas lunch last year due to Kate’s ongoing battle with cancer.
Thankfully, the Princess announced in September that she’s now cancer-free. The Wales family went through a lot of uncertainty and turmoil during Kate’s cancer treatment.
King Charles Traditionally Hosts the Annual Christmas Lunch at Buckingham Palace Ahead of the Holiday at Sandringham
The family is now in a perfect place and has also recently moved into their new home at Forest Lodge in Great Windsor Park.
At lunch yesterday, Princess Eugenie appeared to be in the Christmas spirit, wearing a pair of festive candy cane earrings.
King Charles traditionally hosts his annual lunch at Buckingham Palace ahead of his family joining him in Sandringham for Christmas.
In addition to Kate, William, George, Charlotte, and Louis, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, were also at the Christmas lunch on Tuesday.
Also in attendance were Sophie and Edward’s daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, and Princess Margaret’s children, Lady Sarah Chatto and Lord Snowden.
Princess Anne also attended. The recently widowed Duke of Kent also arrived for the annual lunch with his daughter, Sylvana Tomaselli.
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor isn’t invited for Christmas this year, and likely won’t be asked to join them ever again after his and Fergie’s recent scandals.
He is also being expelled from Royal Lodge in Windsor, as Kate and William have been pushing for his removal from his luxurious home.
King Charles’ annual Christmas lunch is held in December. It serves as one of the final gatherings on the royal calendar before the royal family’s holiday at Sandringham.
The event often brings together senior and working royals, as well as extended family members, ahead of the holidays.
The tradition of the royal family’s Christmas lunch was established by the late Queen Elizabeth II. She was a firm believer in bringing the wider royal family together ahead of the Sandringham holiday.
