Meghan Markle has recently been accused of performing charity stunts primarily for self-promotion after a Thanksgiving trip with Prince Harry and her kids, Archie and Lilibet.
It Was More Important for Meghan to Look Pretty than to “Show Up, Do Good”
The family baked cookies, assembled meals, and cut vegetables to be delivered ahead of the holiday. Meghan posted a montage on Instagram of them baking in the kitchen.
The Sussexes volunteered at Our Big Kitchen, a community-based charity that prepares meals to distribute to those in need.
Brittany from Royal News Network has pointed out that much of Meghan’s “charity work” is closely tied to her and Harry’s Archewell Foundation, which she often uses as a vehicle for self-promotion.
The Sussexes’ motto: “Show up, do good,” is essentially Meghan’s way of using charity to promote herself.
Meghan was also slammed for not having her hair properly tied up while working. It was more important to her to be photographed with her hair perfectly done than to show how teamwork and volunteering can help the community.
Plus, there was no reason for Archie and Lilibet to be part of a team-building event when not everyone’s kids were allowed to come and help.
Brittany recalled when Meghan showed up in Uvalde and had pictures taken of herself laying flowers at the children’s memorial sites after the school shooting in Texas.
The Duchess was trying to pursue positive PR and wanted the spotlight after the unimaginable tragedy.
It’s a very influencer move to turn a charity event into a performance to gain social media attention and accolades for “good work.”
Meghan has a habit of doing “good deeds” for personal benefit. She typically goes for the photo opportunity. During her trip to Uvalde, she famously told the media that, as a mom, she wanted to fly out to Texas to “offer her support.”
Meghan Was Auditioning for the Role of “The People’s Princess” When She Visited Uvalde
That implies that her very presence at a memorial for deceased children is somehow helpful. She went out there because the press knew she was there. The narcissism of Meghan knows no bounds.
For Meghan, it’s not about charity, it’s about her. She had a camera crew follow her around and snap photos of her comforting grieving parents.
The incident occurred after Prince Harry and Meghan supposedly stepped down as working royals to “protect their privacy.”
It was more important to Meghan to receive attention for being charitable than to actually be charitable. She also posed for photos and released them to the public.
It made her look like an opportunistic vulture who was actively auditioning for the role of “The People’s Princess” to take over for her late mother -in -law, Princess Diana.
Archewell wrote the following message about Harry and Meghan’s trip to Our Big Kitchen:
“As the season of giving begins, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, alongside the Archewell team, joined Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles, to prepare and package meals for community members experiencing food insecurity.”
They added,
“The Archewell Foundation remains committed to putting compassion into action, serving and uplifting communities locally and globally.”
What royal experts call “performative charity,” Meghan Markle’s fans think is a Duchess who gets out there and helps others. Yet, it tends to look more like she’s helping herself to positive PR.
