Prince Harry is obviously desperate to be a working royal again, as it’s obvious he’s trying to send a message to the royal family that he could be an asset to the institution.
Prince Harry’s Timing Doesn’t Seem Like A Coincidence
This week, the Duke of Sussex was in Canada on another one of his pseudo-royal tours. This time, it was Canada.
He was meeting with veterans, active service members, and their families. Meanwhile, Prince William was in Brazil for the fifth Earthshot Awards ceremony.
Like clockwork, literally five minutes after Prince William announced his trip to Rio de Janeiro, Prince Harry announced that he would travel to Canada for Remembrance Sunday.
Harry’s spokesperson had previously claimed that his team would improve communication and coordination so that his and the royal household’s engagements wouldn’t overlap.
However, the Duke of Sussex’s trip coincides with a very big event for William. The Prince of Wales established the global environmental award in 2020.
A project to protect and restore rainforests and another to conserve marine life were among this year’s winners of the Earthshot Prize.
Among those in attendance were British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, pop singer Kylie Minogue, Shawn Mendes, and Tom Cruise, who made a surprise appearance via video message.
The overlap in these engagements is no coincidence, as Harry has tried to upstage his brother and the royal family on several occasions.
For example, in 2022, during William’s visit to Boston for the Earthshot Awards, Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix series dropped.
In 2023, while William held his awards ceremony in Singapore, Harry gave a speech at the Stand Up for Heroes event in New York City.
We have to wonder why Harry’s announcements always seem to coincide with William’s Earthshot awards.
Prince Harry And Prince William Are Still Not On Speaking Terms
Interestingly, the Duke’s spokesperson claims that Harry’s trip to Canada had been planned months in advance.
Harry served in the British Army for ten years. He undertook two tours in Afghanistan and became an Apache helicopter commander. Harry also established the Invictus Games in 2014.
While we applaud Harry’s commitment to the military community, we can’t help but think his ill-timed announcements were meant to outshine his brother.
Harry also appears to regret fleeing the royal family to come to the US with Meghan. While Meghan chases her dream of becoming a billionaire, Harry remains heavily involved in charity work and causes close to his heart.
It really looks like Harry is trying to convey a message to the royal family that he can be just as valuable an asset as William.
The Duke of Sussex vehemently denies that he was trying to overshadow William. However, royal correspondent Victoria Arbiter commented that Harry’s timing was “inevitable, if not predictable.”
Harry and William, of course, are still not on speaking terms. Harry’s team also blamed the timing of his trip on the fact that he isn’t afforded the same level of security and protection as other members of the royal family.
When Harry left the UK in January 2020, the late Queen removed Harry’s taxpayer-funded security. She also made it clear to him that there would be no half-in-half-out royal role for him.
Harry seems to forget that he’s no longer a working member of the royal family. Yet he’s still very determined to keep up the act.
