The Young and the Restless spoilers share that Billy Flynn, who plays Cane Ashby on Y&R, recently dished to Soap Opera Digest that Cane’s true priority is to reunite with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil).

Cane revealed to Genoa City’s biggest power players that he was the man behind the mysterious Aristotle Dumas.

He invited the powerful and elite families to his private estate in Nice, France, where murder and mayhem ensued. No one wants Cane in Genoa City.

Regardless, he’s returned to his old stomping grounds. SOD asked the actor what was more important to Cane: business or love.

    Flynn told the outlet,

“I think ultimately, Lily is more important.” He explained, “But until he feels like he’s enough, I would say that there are going to be things that get in the way of her feeling that she’s the most important.”

    He added,

“There’s a plan, and I think in his mind, it all just has to work. But I think she is the ultimate thing that is important to him.”

Flynn also said that Cane is also concerned about his family. He told SOD that Cane is also going to try to facilitate the repair of Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) and his mom, Jill Abbott’s (Jess Walton), relationship.

Cane’s portrayer also admits that his character believes it’s the ultimate justice to take down these companies and families he thinks are corrupt or “bad in some way.”

Flynn explained that Cane wants to fix all these problems before he gets to his ultimate goal of reuniting with the love of his life and reclaiming his family.

In the August 18th episode of Y&R, Cane and Lily reached a stalemate. Lily told Cane he was on his own when he talked to their kids, Charlie and Mattie.

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Lily And His Children Are Underwhelmed By His Efforts

There is also an upcoming scene in which Cane tells his children he created this persona of Aristotle Dumas based on one of Charlie’s favorite books, “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas.

Cane is under the misguided notion that his family will come to the realization that he built this billionaire empire all for them.

Meanwhile, Lily and the kids remain underwhelmed by his efforts. Flynn explained that Cane’s children would have been happy if he had just been there for them.

Flynn says that Cane has a lot of unresolved childhood baggage, and sometimes, when someone has a difficult past, they think they aren’t enough.

    He claims that Cane thinks,

“If I could just create all this other stuff, they’ll think I’m special or worthy. So, he creates this empire and then ultimately, they’re like, ‘Yeah, but you lied to us.”

That said, it’s going to require a lot of hard work on Cane’s part since he intends to win Lily back. However, he lied about his identity, and now he’s connected with the murders of genuinely good people, one of whom Lily could have fallen in love with.

Cane needs to prove that his family can trust him again. Before that happens, Cane wants to give people like the Newmans a taste of their own medicine.
