Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) has been mentioned several times lately, but The Young and The Restless has yet to bring her back.

Summer’s Father, Nick, Is Suffering From a Deadly Opioid Addiction
It’s a critical time for the Newman family, and so much is going on. Summer’s father, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), is battling an addiction to opioids. He could absolutely use the support of his “super girl.”
Not to mention the Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) drama that has played out over the past couple of months.
Summer’s dad almost died twice so far, and we have a feeling there may be a couple more collapses to come before he finally checks himself into rehab.
While Nick has made it clear that he doesn’t want Summer to know about his drug use until he’s ready to tell her, Nick almost died in Phyllis Newman’s (Michelle Stafford) arms.
Plus, Morrow also admitted in Soap Opera Digest that his character hasn’t even hit rock bottom yet. So, shouldn’t his daughter be made aware of what’s going on with Nick before it gets any worse?
Another aspect of this is that we have a hunch that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was really the one responsible for the letter that Summer supposedly wrote Phyllis.
In that letter, Summer wrote her mother off for stealing the Newman empire from her grandfather, Victor Newman (Eric Braden).
We have to wonder whether it was actually Victoria who wrote that letter. After all, she is her father’s daughter.
Regardless, Summer needs to come home and work on her relationship with her mom. Phyllis hasn’t done anything that Victor hasn’t done Ad Nauseum.
Summer Needs to Reunite with Her Mom, Phyllis
Besides, some of the highly unethical business moves that Victor has made in the past have been far worse.
Also, Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) own health crisis is coming, so Summer’s father and grandmother will both have some serious issues to handle and will inevitably need some support from their family.
We aren’t sure exactly what’s wrong with Nikki yet, but according to the Y&R spoilers, her headaches may signal a serious medical issue.
Soaps don’t just randomly mention headaches unless there is at least the possibility of something medically wrong with the character experiencing them.
Finally, Summer needs to come home because Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) may be about to embark on a romance with Claire Newman’s (Hayley Erin) mom, Victoria.
A recent wardrobe tag suggested that the two of them would end up “almost kissing” and implied that an attraction could be brewing between them.
A Potential Romance Between Victoria and Kyle is Set to Take Place.
The last time Claire and Summer shared scenes, there was some animosity between them because Claire had grown so close to Kyle and Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell).
If a romance between Victoria and Kyle develops, it may give Claire and Summer a reason to bond.
We would love to see Summer’s reaction if Kyle and Victoria become a “thing.” We can only imagine how much Summer would disapprove. Of course, it could lead to a juicy confrontation between Summer and her aunt, Viki.
Whether Summer is played by fan-favorite Hunter King (which would be ideal) or by another actress whose name has been tossed into the ring as the next Summer Newman. Summer is an essential legacy character who is currently living her best life in Italy.
However, she should return to Genoa City, at least for an extended visit, to reconnect with her family, especially given all the drama that has ensued for the Newmans since she’s been MIA.
