‘The Young and the Restless’  (Y&R) spoilers indicate that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) may resort to an elaborate setup to prove his innocence to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil).

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Lily Believes Cane Murdered Damain

Right now, Lily believes that Cane murdered her new man, Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers). While she was dating Damain, he declared his love to her.

We suspect that Cane isn’t a killer, and that his fiercely devoted yet creepy assistant, Carter (Vincent Stalba), was the one to end Damain’s life. He likely wanted to clear a path for Cane and Lily to reunite.

However, Cane isn’t above concocting a convincing scheme to win back Lily’s favor. He would no doubt do whatever it takes for Lily to believe in him again.

Cane is obviously playing games. He’s somehow preventing all his guests from having cell service and keeping the roads closed.

While we also don’t believe that Cane is inherently evil, we do know he’s capable of being a master manipulator and a liar.

However, Cane truly believes he was the intended victim when the dagger was thrown into Damien’s back. He also surmised that someone was trying to poison him since it was his bottle of scotch he and Damain were drinking from.

He could orchestrate a situation that makes it appear as though someone is after him. Perhaps Lily even has to save Cane from an “attempt on his life.”

There may be a reason why Cane specially hired Carter as an assistant. Cane could sense that Carter would go to great lengths for Cane.

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Lily Will Find Out Cane Is Innocent One Way Or Another

We know that Cane has yet to realize that Carter is a cold-blooded killer, but he likely suspects that Carter is willing to break the rules to maintain employment and keep his boss satisfied.

Perhaps Cane plots a situation where Carter hides in the shadows, and they pretend someone tries to take out Cane, just as they eliminated Damien.

We could imagine a scenario in which Cane and Lily bond after Lily “saves Cane’s life” and realizes he’s telling the truth about not killing Damian.

Right now, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is the top suspect. Lily, of course, knows Nick isn’t a murderer. It looks like Carter may be framing him.

In the July 21st episode of Y&R, Carter forced Nick into house arrest. Calling him a hothead, Cane feared Nick’s threats against him.

Meanwhile, Lily told Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) that Cane had motive to kill Damian. Cane may be impatient waiting for justice to prevail. He may decide to take matters into his own hands to gain Lily’s trust.

Another possibility is that Carter tries to murder another guest and inadvertently almost kills Cane. Or Lily finds out that Carter is the true culprit.

It will be interesting when the truth comes out and Lily discovers that Cane didn’t commit the heinous crime she’s currently convinced he’s guilty of.

Lily will find out Cane is innocent one way or another. We have to wonder if, when that happens, she would be open to a warm reunion with the true love of her life.
