General Hospital spoilers confirm that Chris McKenna, who plays Jack Brennan, shut down rumors that his character would be killed off the soap.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: McKenna Has Made The Role Of Brennan His Own
The actor has moved from recurring to contract status. McKenna announced at the GH Fan Club weekend.
The news was followed by loud applause from fans. It looks like August 4th, McKenna will be officially on contract status.
It’s an impressive upgrade for McKenna, who started off as the Jack Brennan recast, taking over the role from Charles Mesure, who was a fan-favorite.
Fans were shocked and disappointed that Mesure decided to exit the show and didn’t exactly embrace McKenna at first. Over time, he’s accumulated a devoted fan base.
McKenna has truly made the role his own and is playing this complex and intriguing character beautifully. He should be praised for his solid portrayal of Jack Brennan. In fact, McKenna stepped into his new role a mere 48 hours after the switch was announced.
Brennan’s blossoming relationship with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) has won over some fans, despite the backlash over Brennan having recruited Carly’s daughter, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), into the WSB.
McKenna’s character, Jack Brennan, is the WSB station chief. Brennan has been keeping a huge, life-changing secret from Carly: that Joss is now working for him.
When Carly finds out that Brennan not only recruited Joss but also helped her cover up the murder of Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), to say she’ll be livid would be a staggering understatement. It’s not going to be pretty.
Additionally, Jack will likely face the wrath of Carly’s ride-or-die BFF, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Jason warned Carly that Brennan was dangerous when she first became involved with him. That said, it looks like Brennan and McKenna are here to stay.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: A Supposedly Reliable Soap Leaker Claimed Brennan Would Be Killed Off The Show
So, what was the deal with the soap leaker who swore Brennan was set to be killed off? The particular soap leaker in question was the same source that outed Natalia Rameriz’s (Eva LaRue) dark death before it was made public knowledge.
This is also the same source that reported Sasha Corbin’s (Sofia Mattsson) exit from GH. We have to wonder how and why the source communicated that Carly’s boyfriend would be killed off.
Several of the soap sites followed suit and reported the news, without realizing it was a false leak. However, rumors of Jack Brennan’s “death” were greatly exaggerated.
It’s strange that a reliable source would spread false rumors about a character’s death. Either the plan was originally for Brennan to die, or the source isn’t nearly as reliable as we were led to believe. Whoever the leaker is, they have definitely lost their credibility.
While it would have made sense for GH to go that route, especially since the truth about Joss is bound to come out, clearly killing off Brennan isn’t part of the plan anymore.
As far as the secret being revealed that Joss is a spy, McKenna, Laura Wright, and Eden McCoy are anxious for the inevitable and juicy fallout.
“We all can’t wait for it,” he exclaimed. “Every time they tease that it may be coming, Laura, Eden, and I go, ‘Oh, it’s coming!”
