Prince William and Kate Middleton’s son, Prince George, turns 12 years old today. His parents have released a sweet film to mark his birthday today.
George Was Born On July 22, 2013, At St. Mary’s Hospital, Like Prince William
The clip shows George walking hand in hand with his little brother, Prince Louis, and sister, Princess Charlotte. George and Charlotte are seen lifting Louis in an adorable moment.
The footage was captured earlier this year in Norfolk. Kensington Palace shared the photo in celebration of the young prince’s birthday.
George was born on July 22, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, where his father had been born 31 years earlier.
On that day, Kate was wearing a fetching light blue polka dot dress and white heels. Kate followed in her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana’s, footsteps and presented her baby to the world.
Today marks a significant step toward George’s future role as King. William and Kate have been wonderful parents, preparing their son and raising the second in line to the throne.
George was named after his great-grandfather, the late King George VI, father of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The name followed a long line in royal tradition.
Kate “had her heart set on” naming her firstborn, Alexander. However, his name hadn’t been determined until later.
Until they settled on George, they nicknamed George “our little grape.” According to the Daily Mail, “The couple wrote their favorite names on pieces of paper and put them on the floor of their home, and let their cocker spaniel, Lupo, decide which one was the winner, down to which pieces of paper he went to first.”
The result was that Kate and William named their son, Prince George Alexander Louis. He will be the third George from the House of Windsor to ascend the throne.
George And His Father Like To Rock Out Together
George’s parents started preparing their son for his duty early on when he accompanied Kate and William to New Zealand and Australia in April 2014.
The young prince is no ordinary future King. He loves thunderstorms and has his cute little quirks. Like his tennis-loving mother, he enjoys attending the Wimbledon Championships.
Reportedly, this year, George and Charlotte were disappointed when one of their favorite players, Carlos Alcaraz, lost the men’s final tournament.
George took his first flying lesson at age 11. William and Kate watched eagerly as he took off and landed at White Waltham Airfield near Maidenhead.
Royal fans watched him in flight and were thrilled to see George pilot the plane. William didn’t begin to learn to fly until he was 27 years old, when he was training with the Royal Air Force.
George is also an Aston Villa fan like his father. The two of them enjoy bonding over their shared love of football.
Now that George is 12, he can no longer fly with his father. The royal rule is that once an heir reaches the age of 12, they can no longer travel with the next monarch in the line of succession.
George is also expected to attend Eton School, like William, who became the first senior royal to enroll in the school.
Like his father, George is also a music fan. He loves AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. George’s favorite son is “Thunderstruck.” Both father and son love their rock ‘n roll.
