Days Of Our Lives spoilers declare that Rachel Boyd, who plays Sophia Choi on the soap, gave a tour de force performance when her character gave birth this past week in secret.
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Sophia Gave Birth Alone In Her Room
Sophia gave birth to a baby boy alone in her room, and Boyd delivered a hauntingly exquisite performance as Sophia knew she wasn’t ready to be a mother.
Although Sophia clearly loved the little guy, she dropped the baby off at the local fire station’s Safe Box. Fortunately, Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon) eventually discovered him and took him in.
With no adoptive couple set to take him, a desperate Sophia did what she felt was best for her son.
When she held her baby in her room in those achingly bittersweet moments with her son, we saw the depth of the love she had for her child. Sadly, she had to say goodbye.

Several factors influenced her decision. Sophia knows that the baby’s father, Tate Black (Leo Howard), loves Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis), and she wants to go to college and pursue a career.
She also believed that if her uptight Christian mother, Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nielson), took one look at this little boy, she wouldn’t allow Sophia to give him up.
Her mother was never really on board with the idea of adoption anyway. Sophia also didn’t want to take the chance that Tate might decide to raise his son.
After leaving him outside the fire department, she arrived home, and the guilt and pain hit her like a ton of bricks. She curled up in her bed, clutching a small stuffed bear, and started to sob uncontrollably.
Sophia poignantly wailed, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” while she held on tight to the stuffed animal as she could no longer hold onto her newborn son.
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Sophia May Change Her Mind And Reclaim Her Baby
The traumatized teen awakened from her nightmares and was hoping it was all a bad dream. Of course, the reality was that it was very real.
Sophia checked her stomach area to find that her baby was missing. Afterward, she left her home and ran into Melinda Trask (Tina Huang), who provided Sophia with the compassion and understanding she needed at that moment.
Sophia was hysterical and kept repeating that she did the right thing. Melinda, who had been a teen mother who had also decided to give up her child, gently comforted Sophia and gave her a warm hug.
We know that Sophia’s son ended up with Javi and Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart). They will no doubt fall in love with this baby and want to keep him.

However, Sophia may change her mind at some point, which would make for some compelling drama. Melinda also reminded her that she had time to reclaim her baby.
Boyd played every beat of the huge ordeal her character had to endure with as much heart and soul as any mother who had been separated from her child. She truly delivered a powerful and nuanced performance that simply took our breath away.
Boyd came onto the show as a recast and a newcomer to the soap world. She has shown this past week that she can handle the challenge of playing a shattered teen mom and presented us with a raw, emotional performance that broke our hearts.
