‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers suggest that Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) may exclude Tate Black (Leo Howard) from the adoption plans to make sure that Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) helps her find the right parents.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Tate And Brady Don’t Trust Melinda
Sophia felt blindsided when Melinda told her she couldn’t be her lawyer because Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) warned her not to take the case. Neither Brady nor Tate has the right to tell Sophia she can’t enlist Melinda’s expertise.
Tate and Brady don’t exactly have a very high opinion of Melinda since she gave Sloan Peterson (Jessica Serfaty) Nicole Walker’s (Adrienne Zucker) baby to pass off as her own and told Nicole her baby had died.
Unfortunately, Melinda was separated from her child, Haley. She gave Haley to her parents to raise. She expressed understanding of Sophia’s situation.
Melinda gave up her baby, Haley, for adoption when she was a teenager. She can relate to Sophia and knows she’s not ready to be a mom.
At their first meeting, Sophia knew it would be challenging to get Tate to agree with her choice of lawyer.
They were sitting at the Brady Pub as Melinda had just finished recounting her story when Tate walked in and shut down the idea of having Melinda represent them.
Tate explained that Melinda had kidnapped Holly Jonas’s (Ashley Puzemis) baby brother. Sophia still wanted Melinda to be her legal attorney, but Tate was insistent.
Some fans speculate that Tate may not be the father of her baby. The day Sophia claims to have gotten pregnant, she walked out on Tate after he called her “Holly” in bed.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Sophia Is Desperate To Find A Family For Her Child
Sophia was understandably offended and left Tate. Some fans believe she went to Aaron Greene (Louis Tomeo) after being upset, and they ended up having a romantic relationship.
To be fair, we don’t know for sure if this is Tate’s baby since he never requested a paternity test. He took Sophia at her word, and it may be because he felt guilty for treating Sophia poorly.
However, Brady, being the adult in the situation, should have made Tate ask Sophia for a paternity test. Theresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien) would have likely made that happen before allowing Tate to take responsibility for the child.
That said, we’re not convinced Sophia lied to hold onto Tate. Sophia is anxious to give the baby up for adoption, go to college, and pursue a career. The first rule of soap 101 is that if you want to hold onto your man, you have to have his baby.
We don’t see that as Sophia’s ultimate agenda, as she has big aspirations for her life and is fully aware she and Tate aren’t ready for children. Not with each other or with anyone else.
Sophia was even worried that Tate would become attached to the baby and potentially change his mind about giving it up. Of course, Sophia also has her overbearing mother to contend with.
That’s why Sophia wants Melinda’s help. She’s intelligent, solution-minded, compassionate, and knows how to get things done.
