‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers are sad to report that Chris Robinson, who is known for his roles as Rick Webber on GH and Jack Hamilton on The Bold and the Beautiful, has passed away at the age of 86. Actor and musician MJ Allen first shared the news of Robinson’s death on social media.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Robinson Landed The Role Of Rick Webber On GH In 1978

Robinson died in his sleep on June 9, 2025, at his ranch in Sedona, Arizona. The official cause of death was heart failure, which he had suffered from for a long time.

The veteran soap actor was born in November 1938 in West Palm Beach, Florida. His career took off in the 1960s. He landed parts in popular TV shows like The Donna Reed Show and The Fugitive.

In 1978, Robinson landed the legendary part of Dr. Rick Webber on GH as he came into Port Charles as a recast. He took over the role of actor Michael Gregory. He appeared on the show, off and on, until 2013.

Longtime GH fans may remember that Robinson was part of the infamous romantic entanglement that included Rick Webber and his wife, Lesley Webber (the late Denise Alexander). Also,  Alan Quartermaine (the late Stuart Damon) and Monica Quartermaine (the late Leslie Charleson).

The love triangle would cause Alan to make several attempts on Rick’s life. Robinson remained on the soap until 1986.

During his time on the soap, he became known for his amusing series of commercials for Vicks Formula 44. In the commercial, he said, “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV.”

Robinson’s going-away party was thought to be an occasion to remember. When the news broke of his departure, The National Enquirer reported that the actor “had a lavish going away party two weeks ago, although he will be on the air until December.”

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Robinson’s Last Acting Credit Was In 2022

Robinson returned to GH in 2002, and he was involved in a storyline that resulted in his murder. For a while, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) believed she had murdered him by striking him over the head with a candlestick.

However, it was later revealed that the culprit was Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner), as he had apparently killed Rick to protect Laura.

Scott eventually confessed the truth to Laura, who was in a catatonic state. Robinson also made a brief appearance on the show in 2013.  He showed up to play Rick’s ghost for GH’s 50th anniversary celebration.

In 1988, Robinson took on the role of Jason Frame on Another World until 1989. In 1992, he went on to play Jack Hamilton on The Bold and the Beautiful until 1996.

He made a few visits back to B&B on and off until 2005. During his time on the soap, his character, Jack, was romantically linked to matriarchs like Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) and Sally Spectra (Darlene Conley).

Robinson’s last acting credit was in 2022, when he played Ted Hurst in the movie “Just for a Week.” Robinson is survived by his wife, Jacquie Shane Robinson. Additionally, his children include Shane, Coby, Christian, Christopher, Chris, and Taylor, as well as his grandchildren, Ivy, Ava, Davey, Brooks, and Knox. We send our condolences to Robinson’s family and loved ones.
