‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers confirm that The Young and the Restless alum Daniel Goddard, who played the role of Cane Ashby on Y&R from 2007 to 2019, is joining GH as Josslyn Jack’s (Eden McCoy) environmental physics professor, Henry Dalton, whom the WSB is investigating.

When Goddard took to social media and announced he had big news to share, Y&R fans immediately assumed he’d resume the role of Cane, especially since the show introduced a mysterious new character.
There was speculation that Cane Ashby would turn out to be Aristotle Dumas. However, the “soap gods” decided to throw us a curveball instead.
Goddard starts airing on GH on Tuesday, April 15. In an interview with TV Line, Goddard admitted acting hadn’t been on his radar since Y&R, but in December 2024, he took a call from his prior manager, Michael Bruno, who wanted him to audition for GH.
The part was for the recast of Jack Brennan, which ultimately went to Goddard’s fellow Y&R alum, Chris McKenna, after Charles Mesure opted to vacate the role.
However, a few weeks later, his agent contacted him and told him,
“General Hospital called, and they’ve got this character, and they’re writing it, and they want you to do it,”
Goddard revealed.
Goddard was ecstatic over the offer,
“I was like, are you kidding me?”
“I was just gobsmacked by it. It wasn’t a recast. It was a new character, and I was so blown away,”
He shared.
“I really felt like the timing was right, and I felt like it was meant to be,”
He said. Goddard doesn’t know much about the character yet.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Goddard Has High Praise For Eden McCoy And Finola Hughes
Goddard wants to learn about his new character concurrently with the audience. However, Goddard is willing to explain everything he does know. Professor Dalton works at Port Charles University, and according to Goddard,
“It seems there are some things in his past that he’s done that’s left him in a position of some form of investigation,”
He said.
“And from there, it’s an absolute mystery to me.”
The actor also shared that so far, he’s worked with Eden McCoy and Finola Hughes, who plays Anna Devane. Both characters have a connection with the WSB.
Goddard has also worked with a couple of prominent GH actors: Tristian Rogers, who plays Robert Scorpio, and Genie Francis, who plays Laura Collins.
On Y&R, Rogers played Colin Atkinson, who was Cane’s father, and Francis played Genevieve Atkinson, who played Cane’s mother.
Goddard was also sure to sing Eden McCoy and Finola Hughes’s praises,
“What a blessing to have someone with Finola’s cache, and her value, and experience and talent,”
He commended.
“It was just such a wonderful experience.”
I was like,
“You know what I want? I want to have fun. Let’s just have some fun.”
And she said,
“Oh, God. I would love that.”
So, we played these scenes, and they were great.
“I just love the moments with her,”
He beamed.
“Same thing with Eden; I think she’s fantastic. With Josslyn, it’s professor and student, and there is a great push and pull there,”
He said.
Goddard appreciates this opportunity to play on a soap again, especially GH.
“It’s been an extraordinary, wonderful experience so far. I couldn’t be more grateful to be back in what I think is probably the most beloved genre in all of entertainment,”
He gushed.
