‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Jeff Kober has officially exited the role of Cyrus Renault. We knew Cyrus’s days were numbered after his reign of terror hit Port Charles.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sam Got In The Way Of Cyrus “Doing God’s Will”

After Cyrus killed Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), there was no redeeming him. Despite Jeff Kober’s brilliant performance as the tortured “man of God,” nothing was going to save this character.

Sam selflessly saved Lulu Spencer’s (Alexa Havins) life with a liver donation. Her thanks for her heroic efforts were Cyrus killing her with a fatal dose of digitalis.

A beautiful mother of two dead and gone all because Cyrus believed Sam got in the way of him “doing God’s will.”

Cyrus talks to Liz about why he was illing people

Cyrus explained to Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) why he was murdering people. He wanted to reunite poor souls who were trapped in limbo with God and end their suffering.

Lulu was in a four-year-long coma, hooked up to machines, and he wanted her to be free to go to heaven.

According to Cyrus, Sam came along with her good deed, and she ruined everything with her life-saving donation. He had no idea that Lulu would recover, so essentially, Sam died for no reason.

Cyrus claimed that killing Sam was her consequence for interfering in the Lord’s work. Cyrus thought he was an angel of mercy, not a cold-blooded killer.

Fans were appalled by the explanation, which was made clear on social media. One fan said, “That explanation was so convoluted and ridiculous.”

Someone else chimed in to express their disgust, “It’s sickening Sam was killed as a consequence for her selfless act of donating to Lulu. Sam only ever wanted to help people,” they commented.

“She was only killed because she saved Lulu, and that devastates me. Sam was a hero and deserved much better.”

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Joss Killed Cyrus Before He Could Kill Her

The “reason” Cyrus killed our beloved Sam was insane; ultimately, Cyrus had no idea whether Lulu would wake up, but at least with Sam’s donation, she had a chance.

Killing Sam was unjustifiable, and Cyrus’s “angel of mercy” narrative doesn’t excuse the murder of innocent people.

Fortunately, Cyrus received his comeuppance in the February 20th episode of the soap. Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) was collecting evidence of Cyrus killing Dex Heller (Evan Hofer).

Cyrus showed up and was ready to take an axe to Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) daughter, but he underestimated Joss as she quickly pulled out Dex’s gun and fired bullets into Cyrus, ending his reign of terror.

Joss called Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) for help. Brennan will do whatever it takes to cover up this crime and protect Josslyn.

Jeff Kober was interviewed by Soap Opera Digest and had a message to the fans,

“I would like to thank the audience for working through their initial hatred of Cyrus; of course, this is just from social media; that’s all I can go on, to embracing him as a valid character and a good place to put their anger and judgment and hatred!”

    He continued,

“I really do appreciate the fans’ appreciation of me and of the character and of the stories we were able to tell.”
