‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers: dare ask the question: is Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) killing patients out of mercy, or is it revenge?
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Cyrus Arrived In Port Charles In 2020
Fans know that Cyrus was behind Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) passing, as was Dex Heller’s (Evan Hofer).
These characters were both on the mend after successful surgery and were on the verge of returning home after a full recovery. Viewers were left to wonder why he chose to take their young lives.
Some would argue he thinks he’s doing the right thing by being the “angel of death” and bringing these people into the Lord’s kingdom. Cyrus claims to be a man of God now, but is he redeemed, or is he just a sinister psycho?
We think back to 2020 when Cyrus first arrived in Port Charles and the long list of sins he’s committed. Cyrus targeted a rival mobster, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
He ordered shootouts that put both Sonny and Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) families at risk and brought drugs into Prot Charles.
Cyrus almost killed Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) with the drugs he gave her. Thanks to Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor), Sasha was spared from Cyrus’s tally of deceased victims.
Cyrus also held Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) hostage in their own home and forced them to treat his gunshot wound, traumatizing young Trina.
He’s also responsible for the explosion at the Floating Rib, which resulted in Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) ending up in a four-year-long coma.
Cyrus also threatened Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) life in her office at General Hospital. It’s also highly probable that he killed Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) to shut him up about his Pikeman dealings.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Cyrus Claims He Found God
These crimes are only the tip of the iceberg for Cyrus, who has a long and sordid history in Port Charles. Cyrus claimed to have come to God and even ran a bible study in prison. He purported to be turning his life around.
He’s suspected of killing patients at General Hospital with digitalis, which appears to be his signature.
Sam’s death could have likely been a mercy killing as he had no reason to want to kill her. The only possibility would be if he murdered Sam so that his niece, Lulu, and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) could reunite, but even that‘s a stretch.
When he was at Turning Woods visiting Lulu after Sam died, he leaned in close to her and whispered, “I’ve taken care of everything.” It was frightening and bizarre.
However, Lulu was also under threat at General Hospital because it appeared that someone had tampered with her ventilator. We have to wonder if the culprit was Cyrus.
We know Cyrus killed Dex to keep him from finding out that he killed Sam and potentially messed with Lulu’s ventilator. Poor Dex was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
We also know Cyrus also almost killed Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). Was that out of a misguided sense of mercy, or did he want to hurt Sonny?
The Digitalis murders have been a very dark storyline, and we want to know what is motivating Cyrus to kill.
