‘Beyond the Gates’ (BTG) spoilers confirm that the premiere of the luscious new soap is only two weeks away! Promos and trailers have been released showcasing the cast and characters who star on the sudser.
‘Beyond The Gates Spoilers: The Screening Was A Major Success
BTG is the first African-American-based soap since Generations went off the air in January 1991. BTG’s cast and crew recently marked a significant milestone as the show had its first public screening at SCAD TVFest. It took place last week, from February 5th to 7th, in the city of Atlanta, where the soap was filmed.
SCAD TVFest honors the latest trends and creative efforts in television and media. It features screenings, panels, and appearances from the stars.
After the screening, a panel discussion took place with BTG’s Executive Producer and President of CBS Studios NAACP venture, Shelia Ducksworth, along with some of the cast members, Clifton Davis, who plays Vernon Dupree, Karla Mosley, who plays Dani Dupree, and Daphnee Duplaix, who plays Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson.

The feedback on social media was very encouraging, as the first public screening was a major success.
BTG issued a behind-the-scenes video on social media where the cast and creator touch upon the anticipation of the soap’s historic debut.
BTG is “groundbreaking” and a “historic moment in daytime TV.” Michele Val Jean is the first African American to create a daytime drama.
Val Jean is no stranger to the world of daytime drama or breaking new ground. She started her career as a writer for Generations in 1989. After the series was canceled, she wrote for Santa Barbara.

In 1993, she joined the writing team at General Hospital. Most notably, she wrote the revisitation of Luke Spencer’s (Tony Geary) rape of Laura Collins (Genie Francis).
Her work on the soap was critically acclaimed. She was promoted to head writer alongside Elizabeth Korte. The promotion made her the first African American to have the position of head writer on a daytime drama.
She wrote for The Bold and The Beautiful from 2012 to 2024. The soap scribe created Beyond the Gates in 2024.
Val Jean gushed about her brilliant new show, “I’ve been living with this world inside my head, so when I got here, there were faces to the characters, sets, and so much hair!”
The new soap focuses on a prominent black family living in a posh mansion in the Maryland suburbs. Vernon Dupree is the family patriarch and a retired senator, while Anita Dupree is the matriarch and was once a famous singer.

Anita and Vernon share two daughters who will be driving the stories. Nicole Dupree Richardson is a philanthropist and an overachiever, and her sister, Dani Dupree, is a former model and “free spirit.”
Actor Clifton Davis expressed his delight over how far society has come, “Now we have African American writers, and it lifts my spirits to see how many advancements African American professionals have made in the industry.”
BTG promises to bring captivating drama, romance, and a dash of mayhem. The scandalous new soap premieres on CBS on February 24th.
