‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that All My Children fan favorite Eva LaRue joins GH as Blaze (aka Allison Rogers, played by Jacquline Grace Lopez).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: LaRue Will Portray Natalia Rogers Ramirez
LaRue will portray Blaze’s mother, Natalia Rogers Ramirez. LaRue played Maria Santos on All My Children (GH)
The character was recruited to Pine Valley Hospital to be their new neurosurgeon. She was one half of the super couple Edmund Grey and Maria Santos Grey.
Maria’s family soon made their way to Pine Valley, and many stories were crafted for them. The members of the Santos family were beloved characters on the soap.
LaRue also had brief stints on the show in 2010 for All My Children’s 40th Anniversary. In 2011, she briefly popped into Pine Valley during All My Children’s final days. LaRue arrives in Port Charles when Blaze and Kristina Corinthos Davis (Kate Mansi) are on the verge of exploring a romantic relationship.
Blaze and Kristina are having difficulty getting their relationship started because of some challenges along the way. She hasn’t come out to her ultra-Catholic parents yet, and she’s not sure how she will.
Blaze is also a famous singer, and she believes that if she comes out, it could hinder her very high-profile career.
Kristina tried to grab Blaze’s hand when they were out in public, and she quickly pulled it away. She took it as a sign of rejection, but Blaze explained the situation, and she understood.
Kristina said that she would go at her pace and keep their connection a secret until she is ready to admit to her parents that she’s gay.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Deck is Stacked Against Blaze and Kristina
On top of that, Kristina is her sister, Molly Lansing Davis’s surrogate, and she’s pregnant, which could also complicate things.
What may be yet another issue is that Kristina’s father, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), is a mafia boss. If Kristina gets caught in the crossfire, so can Blaze.
Kristina could inadvertently put Blaze’s life in danger. So, the deck is stacked against Kristina and Blaze as a couple.
Blaze’s mother could be another obstacle for them if she discovers that Kristina and Blaze are dating. She is, apparently, a devout Catholic and unaware that Blaze is interested in the same sex.
This could open the floodgates to a compelling storyline, especially if Natalia crosses paths with Sonny. It could get interesting.
The infamous coffee importer also claims to be very religious (I am not sure how someone who murders for a living could consider themselves to be a man of God, but who are we to judge?)
Having more diversity in the soap would also be good, as LaRue has a Puerto Rican background. She could introduce a new core family into Port Charles.
Another factor is Kristina’s LGBTQ center, which she wants to get off the ground. We haven’t heard much about that, but perhaps a storyline with LaRue’s character could be the key to fully developing Kristina’s ambition to make it a success.
LaRue is a stellar actress and popular soap vet. She will be on the show starting on February 26th, and we will be watching.
