With things being tense in Port Charles at the moment with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard)’s marriage in severe jeopardy and Sonny facing some serious jail time, ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers have been waiting for the spotlight to shift to Ava Jerome (Maura West).
It was curious seeing her and Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) together without bloodshed, even if it was only for a couple of episodes, but it helped tease something we’ve been waiting for: Ava to face Sonny after encouraging Nina to turn Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) over to the SEC.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Not a stranger to Sonny’s wrath
Ava did give her a really good nudge in that direction when Nina was against doing so, but then Nina reacted like she always does when Carly antagonizes her and now she’s paying the price for that.
But Ava did play a role, albeit a small one, and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out when Sonny finds out.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers knows Ava’s no saint and no one will ever confuse her with one, but she and Sonny have reached an accommodation in favor of their daughter, but if this news comes out will it be too much for Sonny to forgive?
Especially considering he managed to mostly move past her accidentally killing Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) after switching his bi-polar medicine.
In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Maura talked about that storyline and how she didn’t like that twist.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Just a cog
To deal with her character’s choice, she talked about how she rationalized Ava’s decision to break up Morgan and Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin).
“I had to focus on one thing in order to make that work for me, which was [Ava’s belief that] ‘I’ve got to protect Kiki. She’s going to end up dead because she’s with this guy’. That’s how I could sell it to myself, to make it about her love for her daughter.”
She went on to say that she didn’t love what Ava did or does at times, but she has to keep doing the best she can.
With Nina’s secret out and Nikolas knowing Ava’s role after being nearby Ava and Nina, there’s a chance that Ava could once again be a cog in the wheel that destroyed Sonny’s marriage and life, and this time, although she is less guilty, it may be something she can’t come back from.
