‘General Hospital’ (GH)l spoilers tease that Steve Burton, who will be reviving his role as the leather jacket-wearing mob enforcer on the show, may have a conundrum when bringing back the uber-popular and iconic character.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Jason Was Presumed Dead in 2017
Right now, the show is busy addressing the loss of the legendary character, Bobbie Spencer, as well as her portrayer, Jackie Zeman, who passed away in May 2023 after a short bout with cancer. The powers that be may decide to wait until after the funeral to reintroduce Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) into the mix.
Burton has just wrapped up his role as Harris Michaels on Days of Our Lives. He is set to rejoin the General Hospital canvas in early 2024.
The last time we saw Jason, a tunnel fell on top of him, and he was presumed dead. The show will have no problem explaining how Jason survived the collapse.
The problem will be what they will do with Jason when he returns. In 2017, when Jason was presumed dead, the show had him return to his soulmate, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), but she was in the throes of a relationship with Jason’s twin brother, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Naturally, she chose Jason.
Now, there is no romantic reunion for him to enjoy when he comes home. However, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) is dealing with losing her beloved mother, Bobbie. Jason’s return will be a wonderful surprise as she is grieving.
Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) needs Jason now more than ever after his marriage to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) has imploded. Jason can be there for Sonny in a way no one else can.
Sonny also needs someone to help dismantle Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober). Cyrus has been under Sonny’s skin ever since Cyrus tried to set him up with the Feds.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Stories That Need Jason
Another ticking time bomb that desperately needs to be dealt with is Sonny’s son, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), and Sonny’s right-hand man (for now), Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), conspiring to take Sonny down with that enlightening flash drive that could have sent Sonny to prison for the rest of his life
.Jason may overhear a conversation between Michael and Dex, talking about how they almost set up Sonny, or he may discover the secret on his own or through Carly.
If Carly tells him, he’ll keep it a secret, but he may decide to convince Carly to tell Sonny. It will be interesting to see the interaction between Jason and Dex, whether the truth comes out or not.
What about the Quartermaines? It would be nice to see Jason have scenes with his family, especially Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson).
About Jason’s love life, it’s anyone’s guess. The writers may pair him up with Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) again, considering her relationship with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) is a major snooze.
However, as a longtime JaSam fan, it would make sense to reunite Jason and Sam, especially if the show will bring back Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) for Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna).
Then again, a Carly/Drew/ Jason triangle has potential. Whatever the show decides, seeing Jason back in Port Charles will be awesome.
