Peyton Hillis says he’s now, thankfully, doing fine and anticipates ultimately being at “100%” in his first interview since almost drowning in an ocean accident last month. On January 4, the former NFL star, who had been caught in riptides while trying to save his children, nearly drowned on Florida’s Pensacola Beach.
Hillis needed emergency care from first responders on the beach, and after that, he needed to be placed on a ventilator at a nearby hospital because, according to his family, he had serious kidney and lung damage. But Hillis made a gradual and steady recovery, even getting a heartwarming visit from Emmitt Smith while still in the hospital, and on Tuesday night, he disclosed that almost everything in his life has returned to normal.

Hillis tweeted out that, “I left the hospital with no worries and concerns and should make a 100% recovery. I’m a very lucky and blessed man.” He continued to thank everyone for the support after the incident and explaining why he hasn’t said anything for over a month since the accident.
“I haven’t taken any interviews on this because I’d like to keep my family out of the public eye because it was a very traumatic time for us,” he said. “But I did want to come on here and show my appreciation for everyone who helped save my life and for all of your prayers and love and support.”
We’re glad to hear that Hillis is going to make a full recovery and his children have one hell of a dad to look up to.
