Jennifer Aniston has announced the passing of her father and ‘Days of Our Lives’ actor John Aniston at the age of 89. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Paying tribute on Instagram, the Friends star posted a photo of herself as a baby alongside her father and wrote: “Sweet papa… John Anthony Aniston. You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now I’ll love you till the end of time. Don’t forget to visit.”
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Actor John Aniston (Victor Kiriakis) Dies At Age 89
Earlier this year, John Aniston was honored with a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award. Born Yannis Anastassakis in Chania, Greece in July 1933, John Aniston moved with his family to the US at the age of two, with his father anglicizing the family’s surname to Aniston. His screen career began in the 1960s and included TV shows such as Kojak, the soap opera Search for Tomorrow, Star Trek: Voyager, and The West Wing.
He was best known for his role as Victor Kiriakis in the soap opera Days of Our Lives – playing the character from 1985 to the present day.
Jennifer is the daughter of John and actress Nancy Dow, who died in 2016 at 79. Jennifer recently opened up about her parents’ divorce in her cover story for Allure.
In addition to Jennifer, John is survived by his wife, actress Sherry Rooney, who he married in 1984, and their 33-year-old son, Alex Aniston. “I think my mom’s divorce really screwed her up,” she told the magazine. “I forgave my mom. I forgave my father. I’ve forgiven my family.”
That said, there’s a very good chance that ‘Days of Our Lives’ will air a tribute special for John Aniston in the coming weeks ahead.
