Forgive my bit of cognitive dissonance here, but, did anyone else do a double take when Kim Plath was having lunch with another man? Because I sure did. But, that’s because I’m used to old!Kim, old!Kim would have probably had lunch with said man’s wife – said man, being Charles, a friend of the family who has sold them various rental properties – including the dance studio.
Interesting. It was refreshing watching Kim interact with someone who wasn’t Barry because her demeanor was so different. Subtle changes, yes, but definitely more relaxed and open instead of the weird, couched language she uses when around Barry.
Who is that guy with Kim Plath?
Charles doesn’t seem to run in the same circles as Kim and Barry once did, I mean, he might, but it looks like he’s just… circle adjacent and perhaps he went to the same church, perhaps he didn’t, it looks like this has been a business relationship for all of the years that they’ve been involved together.
But there’s a question… is Charles married? Even if he is there’s a chance that he could be of the LGBT persuasion, but, considering his close relationship with the Plaths all these years and their stringent beliefs we do think that that possibility is rather low. Still, it raises a few questions as to why Kim was having lunch with him and not his wife.
Speaking of, it seems that if Kim did have any female friends, that they have deserted her in her time of need. It’s really telling that she didn’t have at least one or two female friends that she could turn to throughout any of this. People on social media have pointed out that sometimes that’s just the way things are in fundamentalist circles, the parents really don’t bother making friends outside of each other and their children.
Which brings to mind a question, when is Kim going to talk to Lydia? Lydia seems pretty offended by the fact that her Mom has not chosen to really confide in her, considering how close Lydia claims they used to be. In fact, Kim has taken Moriah aside to talk to her, but not Lydia? Looks like that may be in the next episode but Lydia may not like the conversation they’re going to have. Stay tuned!!!
