Fans may remember Haynes from Teen Wolf and Arrow and he has been through a lot more than many of his fans are aware of. In his memoir, Miss Memory Lane, he opens up about everything that he has gone through from start to finish. He told the press, “I needed to rid myself of the things I’ve held onto for so long.” He was raised in Wichita, Kansas and in a very poor home.

His mother was a single mom and she had substance abuse problems his father would come home now and then and fight over the food stamps. Haynes always wanted to be a model and felt that he could be the male Kate Moss.

He told fans, “Delusion was my first drug.” He ended up getting a job as a dancer at a gay bar. He told his fans, “Once I knew something was going to get me the attention that I wanted, there was nothing holding me back from using my body, or doing whatever I could to help me get that love I needed.” He sent some of his photos to a modeling agency and landed four Abercrombie & Fitch catalogs. When he finally got to Hollywood, his first job was as a phone sex operator.

He tried to come out when he was in Hollywood, but his agents and managers advised him not to. He soon developed an addiction to Xanax and Adderall. He eventually came out in 2016 and in 2018, after a heartbreaking divorce, overdosed on oxycontin, Xanax, and tequila.

He said, “I had tubes coming out of every hole of my body. I couldn’t see out my left eye. My mother had died earlier that year from alcoholism. My dad killed himself with Oxycontin. I had set out not to be anything like my parents.”

He is now sober and working hard to maintain his positive outlook on life and releasing his book.
