A Rolling Stones article written about the late Foo Fighter drummer Taylor Hawkins‘ shortly before his death has been slammed.
‘Couldn’t F—ing Do It Anymore’-‘Taylor Hawkins’ Words Days Before His Death
Taylor, for his part, had died in March of this year much to the shock of the music world. As a result, the band decided to cancel their upcoming tour dates in order to take stock of things and decide where they would go next.
So the last thing that they would have wanted to see were headlines painting Taylor in a negative light. And yet, that is precisely what happened. The article, in question, had included comments made by Matt Cameron who is a drummer for the band ‘Pearl Jam.’
In his comments, Cameron had allegedly recalled how Taylor had informed the singer of the ‘Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl about not coping with the touring schedule. Matt was claimed to have said the following: “He had a heart-to-heart with Dave and, yeah, he told me that he ‘couldn’t f—ing do it anymore.’
“Those were his words. So I guess they did come to some understanding, but it just seems like the touring schedule got even crazier after that.” Naturally, these comments paint Taylor in a negative light.
It would suggest that he was struggling with the physical demands of the tour, which may explain the initial claims that a reported 10 substances were found in his system prior to his death. This was clearly not the way that Matt had intended to showcase his friend.
That is why he let the world know in no uncertain terms that his comments had been manipulated. In a post to his fans on Instagram, Matt said: “My quotes were taken out of context and shaped into a narrative I never intended. Taylor was a dear friend, and a next level artist.
“I apologize that my participation may have caused harm.” Taylor may longer be here, but his music has left the fans and his friends with many memories. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
