‘Storage Wars’ star Rene Nezhoda scored one of the biggest hauls of his life when he dropped some serious coin on a bunch of Olympic memorabilia that a friend of his uncovered after purchasing a San Diego storage locker several years ago.
The impressive stash of memorabilia had belonged to Olympic legend Florence Griffith Joyner, aka, Flo-Jo, the darling of the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics. Flo-Jo was the fastest woman on the planet, setting world records for both the 100 m and 200 m. And she did it with some serious style!

Rene walked away with extremely valuable collectibles like Flo Jo’s 1988 Olympic jacket and the track shoes she wore to win her three gold medals- signed by the star herself.
Magazines featuring Flo-Jo, autographed Flo-Jo Barbie dolls, rare photos of the star, and her training weight belt were all now in Rene’s possession.
The track legend unexpectedly died 10 years after becoming a household name, suffocating in in her sleep after suffering an epileptic seizure.
Flo-Jo’s family suddenly stopped paying for the storage rental unit housing the souvenirs some eight or so years ago (hence the auction taking place). Flo Jo’s husband Al Joyner – also a track and field gold medalist (for the triple jump at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics) and his wife’s coach- later claimed he thought he’d gone through the lockers and saved all the important memorabilia.
He soon learned he was wrong after hearing about what Rene had bought off his friend, who had bought the abandoned locker. It was shortly after TMZ first reported on Rene’s haul that Al and other Griffith family members reached out to the Storage Wars star.
Though Rene had initially thought he would make a big profit by selling the pieces of sports history on eBay or through a collectible auction house, he has now agreed to sell the items back to Al and co, at a discounted price so as to recoup his costs (and a small profit).
Rene and Al met up in San Diego to strike the deal. Though Rene knows he could have made bank with the 80’s finds, he claims it was more important that the Griffth and Joyner families got back their beloved Flo-jo’s items.
