It’s kind of like a royal field trip, right? There’s a new report that says Prince William and Kate Middleton will learn about Belize’s efforts in barrier reef preservation on the second day of their Caribbean tour. Here’s what you need to know.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will learn about efforts to preserve Belize’s barrier reef as their Caribbean tour continues. Acknowledging Belize’s world-famous marine environment, the Cambridges will also spend time learning from conservation specialists about marine protection and the restoration efforts of Belize’s precious barrier reef.
Prince William And Kate Middleton Will Learn About Barrier Reef Preservation During Their Caribbean Tour
This all comes after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were forced to scrap a visit to a farm because of opposition from locals. That’s because a protest was staged on Friday opposing the royal visit to Akte ‘il Ha cacao farm in Indian Creek village in the foothills of the Maya Mountains.
The young royals are touring the Caribbean to mark Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, which celebrates the monarch’s 70th year on the throne. Village elders said they had not been consulted about the couple’s helicopter landing in a soccer field in their village, which is one of the many reasons why they are apparently upset.
That said, William and Kate’s week-long visit will see the couple learn about the impact of the COVID pandemic on communities and hear about projects working with young people and the environment.
