In the first episode of Pig Royalty, we saw that Kristen Tyk, head of the Tyk family and part of the Rihn show team was having an all out battle with Jody Rihn because she didn’t feel that Jody was there for her when their prized pig, “Notorious P.I.G.” got sick and wouldn’t help them with what to do. In the second episode, Jody apologized for not being there slammed poor Notorious pretty hard calling him a bad example of a pig (so bad they had to bleep that part out!) and that if Kristen wanted to win buckles that she would have to spend the money to get a pig that would bring them in.

Kristen gave a price for the pigs that Jody had reccommended and that was $2400.00. That’s a lot of bacon, ya’ll.

Kristen was quick to tell Jody that maybe if she had been there in the buying process that that bad example of a pig wouldn’t be sitting in their barn.

Jody owned up to her mistakes, saying “Maybe I needed to hear that.” apparently Jody was under the impression that Kristen and her family were just as much of an expert as she was when it came to pig showing and that she could take a more hands-off approach, but I get the impression that Kristen is just not that experienced when it comes to actually showing pigs and may need more of a guiding hand in the ring, at least that’s how she comes off.

However, in the third episode when it came time to show support for her team leader, in spite of their differences and in spite of them not competing in the Balero show, Kristen still showed up for Jody on the second day of competition to show moral support for the Rihn team, and it looks like they were going to need it.

As they feared, little Kannen didn’t win, even though he was arguably the best kid in the ring and did nothing wrong, even had a really positive judge interaction. Poor Kannen was in tears as he realized that no matter what he did, in the end it all came down to politics. It truly wasn’t fair. Maybe Kristen can help make things better, now that she’s headed there. Stay tuned!!!
