Looks like Gaten Matarazzo has given the final word on Stranger Things Season 4, and they are nowhere near finishing production yet. So it looks like we’ll be waiting for awhile to see the finished product. I know what you’re thinking “Aw man, again?!” because that’s what I was thinking too, but due to COVID restrictions, everybody has to play their part.
(We want the horror to remain on-screen, we don’t want life to imitate art.) Matarazzo said in an interview that every filming date is a guestimation right now and that there are still cancellations due to that gosh darn pandemic.
Netflix’s Stranger Things: Season 4… on hold again?
The last time we saw the Stranger Things Gang, Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) had moved with her two boys with Eleven (Millie Bobbie Brown) after the death of Sheriff Jim Hopper (David Harbour). He gave his life valiantly trying to close the door to the upside down with Eleven.
However in the season four trailer we see that Hopper is not exactly dead but rather in a Russian Goulag somewhere, hair all shaved off and working away in what looks to be Siberia. It was reported that a good many fans didn’t like the whole russian angle, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out among dedicated fans, this, continuation of things, as it were. But it had to happen sometime, they’ve been working up to this for a long time.
He said that he was set to begin filming in about two weeks but he doesn’t know an exact date, it’s just kind of a day-by-day, playing it by ear sort of thing. The good thing about this pandemic is, the Duffer Brothers, the creators of Stranger Things, have gotten all of the scripts finished for Season 4 so when they do get back to filming they can put all of their energy into directing.
They sound as eager as the rest of us, because they go to sleep and literally dream of directing these episodes. I think that’s a really good sign and it means that when we do get season 4, it’ll be all that much more extra special because we’ve had to wait so long for it. You know what they say about absence making the heart grow fonder, right? We at DSD will keep you updated with release dates. Stay tuned!!!
