Prince Harry’s trip was quite rushed, and just like that, he is back home. Harry flew into the UK yesterday to visit his father, King Charles, who has just been diagnosed with cancer.
Prince Harry’s Trip to the UK Was Very Brief
Harry’s brief trip consisted of seeing the King for about an hour, maybe even less. Then, without even seeing his brother, Prince William, or his wife, Kate Middleton, he left to return home.
Harry came back to Heathrow this afternoon. Royal expert Jennie Bond said,
“William has shown today that he has disowned Harry; he doesn’t want to know him, and he probably doesn’t even like him anymore. Harry is not part of his life.”
She continues,
“The rift is so deep now, and that has been shown by Harry being here and them not meeting, so deep that I really do wonder if it can ever be mended.”
King Charles may have enjoyed seeing his son, but it was just a crumb tossed at the Duke, who is not a welcome guest by his own family.
Harry was also smart enough not to bring his wife, Meghan Markle. However, he really should have brought the children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to see their grandfather.
Harry saw his father in London, and after the visit, the King and Camilla flew back to Sandringham.
It was their first face-to-face meeting since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022. Harry attended the King’s coronation in May 2023 but did not interact much with Charles.
It’s the sort of thing that makes one wonder how much tension exists between the family members if Harry went out of his way to fly 5,000 miles from Los Angeles to the United Kingdom and his brother showed no interest in seeing him.
Harry and William Have Yet to See Each Other
There were high hopes that the two of them could try to repair the damage done to their relationship. Things haven’t been the same between them since Harry wrote in his book, “Spare,” about their altercation that turned physical.
Harry claimed that William tossed him atop the dog bowl, leaving cuts all over his body. The brothers were never the same after that. Instead of being invited to Windsor Castle, Harry had to stay in a hotel in London.
A source close to the Duke said that Harry would have welcomed the chance to call on his brother; however, William has since moved on.
It has also been said that Harry and William had a mentor who helped them after Princess Diana was killed.
Maybe now he can help the brothers sit down and work out their differences. It is time for the royal family to heal.
William has been taking care of his wife, Kate, after she had her abdominal surgery. She will be away from her royal duties until Easter.
Willam returned to his royal duties today, and he is also expected to take on some of his father’s work until he is well enough to get back to business.
It is a shame that the King and Harry could not come together under better circumstances. But it is good that they came together at all. Perhaps this all could lead to a reconciliation.
