‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers suggest that the new evolution of Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) doesn’t work.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Victor Imprisoned Drew and He Still Kept a Positive Attitude
Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) imprisoned Drew at his compound in Greece. He was there for two years, and when he returned to Port Charles, he slid right into a charmed life as a Quartermaine.
Drew, who had been dreaming of a reunion with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Scout Cain (Cosette Abinate) for those years, had seemingly no trauma issues from being held prisoner.
Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) brainwashed him to be a killer. He did Peter August’s bidding until Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) deprogrammed him.
Drew’s been through some dark days, but we are expected to believe that the trauma of six months in prison surpasses being held prisoner for two years and tortured.
Even though Drew was nearly beaten to death, dark Drew doesn’t quite ring true. When Drew came home from Greece, he was all sunshine, kittens, pink roses, and rainbows.
There was no indication that he had been harboring any lingering trauma. He became the Quartermaine peacemaker, trying to end all infighting and coming to the defense of those in the clan who were weaker in power.
Although Drew has been no match for Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), he had managed to talk down rabid Quartermaines, ready to attack each other.
Drew is now resentful of Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth). Drew, with Michael Corinthos’s (Chad Duell) assistance, took advantage of Ned’s condition while he was Eddie Maine and made a play for ELQ and Aurora.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Drew’s Dark Demeanor is Unbelievable
Drew is now making excuses for his behavior, and chalking his residual anger due to his time in Pentonville.
Granted, he was in a very dangerous situation, but he also had no empathy for Ned, which doesn’t make sense considering that Drew was the one who rescued Ned from drowning at the Metro Court pool.
The two men had just had a huge fight. Drew believed that Ned was the one who turned him and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) to the SEC.
Ned had expressed sincere concern over Drew’s ordeal in Pentonville. In return, Drew behaved like a kid in junior high. He informed Ned that they were taking over the family business.
Drew’s sudden personality change is also rather appalling. He has been hell-bent on putting Scout into Westwood Academy, a private school that she doesn’t want to attend.
Fortunately, Sam was able to talk him down and think about the way he was acting. He laid into her for not forcing their daughter into a situation that she wasn’t comfortable with.
‘GH’ Spoilers: What Happened to Drew?
Drew’s new persona may also cause him to lose Carly, especially when Jason returns from the dead. Carly recently expressed that she loved Drew because he’s “the good guy.”
Frankly, we prefer Cameron’s version of Drew to be the hero and an honorable man. We can’t buy nuDrew’s sudden shift in personality.
Spoilers indicate that Drew’s personality is only going to get angrier and more morose from here on out. We are hoping the writers can reverse this story before the character, Drew, becomes someone we no longer recognize.
