‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers suggests that something may be up with Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicholas Chavez) attachment to Ace Prince-Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay). Why does Spencer believe that he must be a surrogate father to Ace? Why is he not content in his role as a brother?
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Strange Situation
Esme Prince (Kirsten Avery Pohl used to be in a relationship with Spencer, but she did some very awful things. While she lost her memory and doesn’t remember what she did, Spencer has not forgotten. He says he won’t ever completely trust her.
Esme got pregnant and apparently, Spencer’s father, Nicholas Cassadine (Adam Huss) is the father. But Nicholas has disappeared. Esme has had the responsibility of caring for Ace on his own.
Spencer also feels that his father abandoned him, and he doesn’t want his brother to grow up that way. He keeps putting his own life on hold and his relationship with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) on the back burner for Ace.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Concern
While it seems like the admirable thing to do for his brother, some people are concerned about Spencer’s boundaries. Esme and Spencer are living together to raise Ace. Trina feels frustrated by this, feeling that this is something that Esme has been looking forward to and desires.
Trina wants Spencer to start thinking about his future and what he wants out of his life. She reminds him that he is not Ace’s father, and he needs to figure out what he wants from his life. This frustrates Spencer because he can’t think about not being there for Ace.
(Jon Lindstrom) tries to remind Spencer of this too. Kevin drives Esme to GH for Ace’s checkup and when Spencer meets them, he is upset. He wants to be in on all of Ace’s doctor’s appointments. Esme wants to go in alone.
Kevin reminds Spencer that he has no parental rights to Ace at all and that he needs to just give Esme some space to be Ace’s mother. Spencer gets defensive at this. He doesn’t want to back off on this role. Is there something more to his feelings about Ace? What do you think the reason for this is?
