After giving a joint statement at the UN, Joe Biden appears to have left the podium without giving Lula of Brazil a handshake. After the two presidents shared a platform to discuss their proposal to strengthen workers’ rights in each country, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, 77, seemed clearly agitated.
However, the 80-year-old Biden’s slide into a seven-foot Brazilian flag, leaving it wobbling as he approached the stage, gave their diplomatic encounter a laborious start.
Lula sat on the president’s right as he spoke incoherently about his “economic vision to rebuild our economy from the middle out and the bottom up, not the top down.”
However, while listening to a translated version through an earpiece, Biden messed with it throughout Lula’s remarks. Lula asked when he bagan, “Can you hear me President Biden?
This is an historical moment for Brazil, and for the US.” He continued, “President Biden can you hear me?” Lula asked again, annoyingly, “You can?”
President Joe Biden WANDERS Off UN Stage Leaving President Lula Of Brazil ANNOYED That He Didn’t Shake His Hand
While Lula continued speaking, Biden continued to appear bewildered as he struggled with the headset. In irritation, Biden once caused his earpiece to fall to the floor.
At the conclusion of his address, Houngbo shook hands with both Biden and Lula in turn, but Biden seemed to leave Lula hanging, uncomfortably saluting the audience before leaving the platform.
He made a clumsy motion that combined a salute and a thumbs-up since he was unsure whether to do either. Lula seemed irritated and made a swiping motion with his arm when Biden turned his back on him. They made an uncomfortable exit from separate directions.
It may be safe to say that President Lula does not have the highest regards for Biden or America at the moment, but we can only hope that this relationship is mended.
High School football captains seem to have a better sense of leadership than our own president, though, I’m sure many will come to the defense of Biden and his sloppy brain.
