A renowned combat hero was painfully left alone on stage as Joe Biden quickly left a Medal of Honor presentation at the White House. After conferring the highest military honor in the land on retired Army Captain Larry Taylor, 81, who was lauded for his valor in the Vietnam War, the President, 80, hurriedly left the East Room.
While Taylor sobbed as the medal was placed on his lapel, Biden, who was apparently already leaving before the final benediction was pronounced, seemed less affected by the occasion.
While many people have expressed their outrage, some have theorized that the president was attempting to give the veteran the attention, which caused Taylor to be left alone on stage for an embarrassing period of time.
The mistake happened after Biden faced backlash for taking off his mask just before greeting Taylor, despite the fact that First Lady Jill Biden had tested positive for Covid-19 the day before.
Biden’s fast departure is the most recent in a string of instances that have prompted some to accuse him of showing disdain for the military, including the infamous episode in which he repeatedly checked his watch during a ceremony honoring soldiers who were murdered in an ISIS-K suicide bombing in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 2021.
President Joe Biden SLAMMED For Leaving Medal Of Honor Ceremony EARLY, Leaving Vet Alone On Stage
In June 1968, Taylor, a retired Army Captain, sacrificed his life in the jungle to save the lives of his fellow soldiers. Biden was presenting Taylor with a medal for his courage during the Vietnam War.
On the evening of June 18, 1968, Taylor launched his assault chopper to rescue four members of a long-range reconnaissance team who were in danger of being overwhelmed by hostile forces after becoming encircled.
‘They wouldn’t make it,’ he reasoned, so he had to find a method to get them out. One of the guys Taylor helped that evening, David Hill, claimed that Taylor’s efforts exemplified what “we now call thinking outside the box.”
When they were discovered by North Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops, Hill and the other three were on a nighttime operation to follow the movement of enemy soldiers in a village close to the Saigon River.
They got into a fierce combat and quickly ran out of ammo. They radioed for assistance. Taylor took off in his assault chopper and arrived at the location northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, which had been renamed from Saigon at the time. Poor vision, according to Taylor, was the first obstacle to reaching the men who were stranded.
This is yet another Biden moment that will go down as a terrible instance.
