On TLC’s Seeking Sister Wife, Dannielle Merrifield and Garrick Merrifield felt that they had found their sister wife in Roberta Pache. She had her visa approved and was ready to move from Brazil to be with them. Her mother got very sick and she felt that she needed to stay and take care of her for a little longer.
As they were waiting on Roberta, they decided to start dating another woman and see if she could also fit in their family as another sister wife. This upset Roberta and she was very open with the Merrifields about that. Now it seems as if Roberta has called it quits with them and she did it via text message!
Seeking Sister Wife: Their History
Garrick and Dannielle decided that they wanted to be in a plural marriage in 2019, after being married for 11 years as a monogamous couple. They met Roberta on a website for polygamists and she was convinced that this was the couple she wanted to be with. Garrick proposed to her in season three and Dannielle legally divorced him so that he could marry Roberta. They would remain married spiritually.
Seeking Sister Wife: Roberta Pache Calls It Quits Via Text Message to the Merrifields
As season four began, we saw that Roberta had to take care of her mother before leaving to be with the Merrifields, but they wasted no time in finding another woman to date. Roberta wanted them to wait before they started courting another woman, but they didn’t like that idea and decided to try and see where things would go with Lea. It did slip out that Lea and Garrick kissed and Roberta told Dannielle, “To be honest, I was not ready for you and Garrick, planning to have another wife, even before I get to the United States. And that is really messing with me.”
After a crazy fight, Roberta forgave them and booked her flight to Colorado. When she got there, she texted them and the text would change their lives forever. The text read, “I promised that I would get there even after everything on the trip. I tried. Tried a lot. But I can’t feel the same as before. Everything that took me by surprise, I was left feeling excluded, feeling like nothing.”
She went on, “It was so humiliating for me, all asking how I was feeling, finding out that Garrick and Lea went beyond just conversation and dinner. After that day, I kept thinking that everything we had that was most beautiful, special, and pure was broken a piece and is hurting too much, sister. Maybe for you, it may seem like something easy to go through but here, we have another culture. I’m going to pray, shower, and try to get some sleep. My head is hurting a lot since yesterday. I’m sorry, we’re all sad.”
After they received this text, Dannielle had a breakdown and it looks as if she feels that they will never find a sister wife.
