‘The Bachelor’ spoilers find that alum and fan favorite, Mike Johnson has given us the explanation we’ve all been waiting for- why was Peter Weber cast as the Bachelor?
Simple: because Tyler Cameron didn’t want it.
Appearing on the @ShesAllBach podcast, Mike confirmed that Tyler wasn’t just a number one pick for viewers to take the title role, but for producers too. However, as Mike explained, Tyler told the franchise “’I’m good bruh.”
Mike further explained the double-edged sword that comes with becoming The Bachelor, saying, “You want to find love [but] the negative is everyone and they momma [sic] are going to say something about you.”
‘The Bachelor’ Spoilers: We Can All Blame Tyler Cameron for Peter Weber
Mike said he totally understood when his buddy would want to quit while he was ahead. Tyler had already won fans’ hearts (and their social media following).
All too often Bach Nation fan-favorites return one too many times to the franchise, losing favor in the process. One only has to look to Blake Horstmann- a fave from Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette who was quickly labeled a f@$kboy after it was established that he had three former Bach franchise contestants on his hook= Kristina Schulman, Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Hannah Godwin when he showed up in Mexico for Bachelor In Paradise season 6.
An even quicker downward spiral was achieved by Brendan Morais, also in Paradise when he lost fans and followers in droves after playing Natasha Parker and using her interest to say on the show until his (alleged) girlfriend, Pieper James showed up.
Peter Weber didn’t fare much better after a disastrous Bachelor season where he ditched his first choice, Hannah Ann Sluss for his second choice (because she forced his hand and quit) Madison Prewitt, before moving quickly on with his fifth choice, Kelley Flanagan.
Would it have been all so different if Tyler hadn’t turned down The Bachelor role? You betcha. Would Tyler’s rep have stayed so firmly intact? That’s less certain.
Tyler is known for being a “nice guy”. The latest person to rave about him is reality star and Uncommon James jewelry brand creator, Kristin Cavallari.
Kristin recently hired Tyler to model for her brand alongside herself, specifically for the buzz the Bachelor franchise star would create for the brand’s fall campaign.
“Everyone’s like, ‘Tell me everything,’ Kristin divulged. “He’s honestly the nicest human being on the planet. I mean, he is like such a love. I have nothing but good things to say about him.”
It’s possible Tyler could have come out the other side of a Bachelor season unscathed, possibly even more beloved like Sean Lowe or Ben Higgins. However, it seems we’ll never know
“[Tyler] was like, ‘I got more followers than any other Bachelor will get, I don’t need the money that you give me to be The Bachelor,I don’t want my life to look like that,’” Mike further described before admitting, “I don’t blame him.”
As for Tyler’s quest to find love, while the man may currently be single, he certainly hasn’t had trouble finding a date. Included in his dating history are Kylie Jenner’s BFF, influencer Stassie Karanikolaou and supermodel Gigi Hadid. It seems that dental hygienist from Austin or pediatric nurse from Boise just isn’t going to entice the ‘Real Dirty Dancing’ contestant to possibly run his life…or at least his rep.
