Ashley Aldridge, sister of Casey Aldridge, father of Jamie Lynn Spears’ eldest daughter, Maddie, has come out in an interview with Popcorned Planet with Andy Signore and said that Jamie Lynn Spears’ book “Things I should have said” is an entire pack of lies.
For one thing, her brother, Casey Aldridge, her brother, is referred to as “Casper” in the book, which is not a nickname or something that he’s ever been called in real life – Ashley said that this was a dig at Casey, basically saying that he was a ghost to them.
Which Wouldn’t Be True
Ashley maintains that her brother wanted to keep a relationship with his daughter, Maddie, open, but that Jamie Lynn Spears was the one who would literally ‘do things to the phones’ and cut off contact between father and daughter.
Ex Sister-In-Law Claims Jamie Lynn Spears’ Book Is Full Of Lies
Casey has struggled with substance abuse in the past and is in treatment for it, but his sister says that even during his worst times his daughter was never in any danger and that the family themselves posed no threat. She said that the last time Casey saw his daughter was two years ago when he found out through someone else that his daughter was having a basketball game and he and Ashley showed up. Maddie was ecstatic, Jamie Lynn Spears was not pleased.
According to Ashley, you could see the hatred for them and their family through Jamie Lynn’s eyes when they showed up at Maddie’s basketball game. She also said that because Casey got behind in his child support payments due to not working, Jamie Lynn forced him to sign over all his parental rights.
Casey Aldridge did not initially want to do this, according to sister Ashley, and tried his best to get up the money to pay the back child support, but it just wasn’t possible and in the end, the judge told him either pay up, go to jail, or sign over your rights and he felt he had no choice but to do the latter in the end.
According to Jamie Lynn’s book, daughter Maddie wanted to completely change her last name to Watson, the last name of Jamie Lynn’s current husband, Jamie Watson (there are too many Jamie’s in this family) because she wanted her last name to be the same as theirs.
The book says that her request was bordering on demand, and it was because Casey was not having visitation with her during that time – because he could not get ahold of her. Jamie Lynn Spears plays this off in the book as her trying to make the best decision for Maddie, because of Casey’s continued problems with substance abuse, but Ashley says that in spite of his problems with addiction Casey still kept trying to see his daughter. He didn’t just abandon her.
In fact, there was one instance where Ashley says that they showed up to actually visit with Maddie and that no one would come to the door. Of the last name change, Ashley speculates that Maddie was guilt-tripped into it by Jamie Lynn because she thinks that a 9 year old kid wouldn’t be thinking of why her last name was different than her parents’ – but her Mom definitely would.
She also says that at one point Maddie had floated the idea of having a hyphenated last name, in essence keeping both last names – but it seems in the end Watson was the winner.
When asked if there was a message that she would like to relay to Maddie, Ashley said that she would like for Maddie to know that her Dad didn’t abandon her, and that her family was still here and they were still waiting on her and that they all miss her very much.
She assured Maddie that none of what happened was her fault – an important thing for a child to hear. As for Jamie Lynn, she said that she would tell her that she has no idea the hurt she has caused. Perhaps one day, Maddie can have some peace, that’s what we hope. Stay tuned!!!
