Don’t worry, the situation is not dire yet. Or at least, that’s not what Buckingham Palace wants us to believe. There’s a new report that says Queen Elizabeth is in good form and in “good spirits” as Buckingham Palace likes to say, as her doctors have ordered her to rest at home for another two weeks.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has given an update on the Queen’s health as well. Here’s what you need to know.
Queen Elizabeth Is In ‘Very Good Form’ Despite Being Told To Stay Home For Two Weeks
According to reports, amid public concern and support for the Queen, Johnson says there’s no need for anyone to worry about her just yet, but that the public should respect her need to step back and get the much-deserved rest she is now getting.
He said, “I spoke to Her Majesty as I do every week as part of my job and she was on very good form. She has been told by her doctors that she has got to rest and I think we have got to respect that and understand that. Everybody wishes her all the very best.”
In a statement on Friday, Buckingham Palace said: “Following on from their recent advice that the Queen should rest for a few days, Her Majesty’s doctors have advised that she should continue to rest for at least the next two weeks. The doctors have advised that Her Majesty can continue to undertake light, desk-based duties during this time, including some virtual audiences, but not to undertake any official visits. Her Majesty regrets that this means she will be unable to attend the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday, November 13. However, it remains The Queen’s firm intention to be present for the National Service of Remembrance on Remembrance Sunday, on November 14.”
Just last week Queen Elizabeth was hospitalized “preliminary investigations,” a Buckingham Palace spokesman confirmed. However, the Queen is feeling absolutely knackered that her team is forcing her to slow down.
One source close to the situation told the Daily Beast, “There is very much a desire to get out there, to get back to normal, back to business.”
If that weren’t enough, a separate report suggests the Queen doesn’t want to spend time alone. In private, the queen has had “a constant flow of lunches and dinners with family and friends, because the queen does not want to dine alone,” sources told the Times.
The Queen is also spending a lot of time with family, including her sons Prince Edward and Prince Andrew.
