Royal fans want the truth and nothing but the truth. There’s a new report that suggests critics believe that Buckingham Palace might be accused of “misleading the nation” about Queen Elizabeth’s health.
After all, it wasn’t too long ago that her husband Prince Philip was said to be in “good spirits” right before his death, which is the same line that courtiers are now using about the Queen. Here’s what you need to know.
Is Buckingham Palace Misleading Everyone About Queen Elizabeth’s Health?
She’s not the kind of person who will slow down, unless she’s absolutely forced to. Just last week, Queen Elizabeth spent the night in a hospital on Wednesday after she was forced to cancel a trip to Northern Ireland. Buckingham Palace said Wednesday that she was ” disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland.”
Queen Elizabeth has since been discharged, with Buckingham Palace saying she was in “good spirits” after “preliminary investigations” during her visit to hospital. This was her first overnight stay in a hospital in eight years. It’s also just her fifth major hospital trip in 40 years.
And now Buckingham Palace is being accused of downplaying the Queens’s health.
Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, added: ‘The Queen does have a right to a certain degree of privacy, but on the other hand she’s head of state. So does that entitle us to know exactly what ailments she may or may not have? It’s a very difficult one to get the balance right for the satisfaction of everybody.’
Royal commentator Peter Hunt added ‘The media’s faith in the veracity of royal communications will have been sorely tested by the failed attempt to hide the fact the Queen spent a night in hospital. Buckingham Palace can ill afford a breakdown in trust, given all they’re dealing with.’
